Disc One - all solo with acoustic guitar
introduction
I guess that the name of Larry Norman has almost become, has almost become a legend in gospel music. At the moment Larry's in the middle of a world tour where he's already been to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Brazil and he's going from here to Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Israel, South Africa, and so we're really delighted that he has chosen to come to London in that world tour. So I would just ask you to give a very big welcome to Larry Norman [Spoken]

I'd like to sing the theme from Star Wars [Spoken]
He's an unidentified flying object
You will see him in the air
He's an unidentified flying object
You will drop your hands and stare
You will be afraid to tell your neighbours
They might think that it's not true
But when they open up the morning papers
They will know they've seen him too
He will come back like he promised
With the price already paid
He will gather up his followers
And take them all away
He's an unidentified flying object
He will sweep down from the sky
He's an unidentified flying object
And some will sleep but will not die
He's an unidentified flying object
Coming back to take you home
He's an unidentified flying object
He will roll away your stone
And if there's life on other planets
Then I'm sure that he must know
He's been there once already
And has died to save their souls
He's an unidentified flying object
You will see him in the air
He's an unidentified flying object
You will drop your hands and stare
He's an unidentified flying object
Coming back to take you home
He's an unidentified flying object
He will roll away your stone
Ooh ooh ooh ooh hoo hoo-ooh ooh-ooh ooh

sweet song of salvation
[Go to Song Page]
When you know a pretty story you don't let it go unsaid
You tell it to your children as you tuck them into bed
And when you know a wonderful secret
You tell it to your friends
Tell them that a life time filled with happiness is like a street that never ends
Oh-oh oh, sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let your laughter fill the air
You sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And tell the people everywhere
You sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
To every man and every nation
Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let the people know that Jesus cares
Now look around you as you sing it
There are people everywhere
And to those who stop to listen
Your sweet song becomes their prayer
'Cause when you know a wonderful secret
You tell it to your friends
Go on and tell them that a lifetime filled with Jesus
Is like a street that never ends
Alright it's your turn
It's you turn
(Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation)
And let your laughter fill the air
(Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation)
And tell the people everywhere
(Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation)
To every man and every nation
You've gotta sing that swe'
(Sweet sweet song of salvation) [Larry coughs]
It, it's you know it, I, it sounds alright I guess an'. Ha. Something's missing you know. Eh like the movies it's. Oh you, you shouldn't be clapping this so you, you could do that, maybe that would help. You know yeah, let's try it again. One, two an' one two [Spoken]
Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let your laughter fill the air
You sing that (sweet sweet song of salvation)
Tell the people (everywhere)
No wait wait wait. Um. It's not loud enough, that's what it is. Let's do it again, one two, one two da da [Spoken]
Sing that sweet sweet song (of salvation)
And let your laughter (fill the air) fi'
That's my part [Spoken]
Sing that sweet sweet (song)
That's your part [Spoken]
(Of salvation)
Tell the people everywhere
You sing (that sweet sweet song of salvation)
I, I know what it is. It's, you see at, at first the singing sounded good but it just missed some enthusiasm. and now, when you started clapping the singing kind of deteriorated. I know it's difficult to do two things well at once. So maybe you should sing and then when you're not busy concentrating on your singing then you could concentrate on your hands. [Mumbles the melody then claps]. Yeah let's try that let's. Uh one two, a-one two [Spoken]
Sing that sweet sweet (song of salvation)
Let y'
No no, just twice, just clap clap. Once for each hand, okay. Okay. One two, one two [Spoken]
Sing that sweet sweet (song of salvation)
Let your laughter fill the air
You sing that sweet sweet song (of salvation)
Tell the people everywhere
You've got to sing that sweet sweet (song of salvation)
That's perfect. Okay, I, I think everybody knows what to do now. Now, I hope you can concentrate on it for a few minutes 'cause there's another verse here I wanna do [Spoken]
Now look around you as you sing it
There are people everywhere
And to those who stop to listen
Your sweet song might become their prayer
'Cause when you know a wonderful secret
You tell it to your friends
Go on and tell them that a lifetime filled with you know who
Is like a street that never ends
Alright it's your turn
(Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation)
And let your laughter fill the air
Sing that (sweet sweet song of salvation) Woo ooh
And tell the people everywhere, tell the people everywhere
(Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation)
To every man and every nation
Go on and sing that
(Sweet sweet song of salvation)
You got to sing that
(Sweet sweet song of salvation)
Come on and sing that
(Sweet sweet song of salvation)
Come on and sing that sweet sweet song
Sing that sweet, sweet sweet song
Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let the people know that Jesus cares
You've got to let the people know that Jesus cares
You know he really does
He died for all of us to set us free from our sins
All we gotta do is open up and let him in
I mean we can sit in this nice auditorium in these soft upholstered chairs
Or go out in the streets in the cold and let the people know that Jesus really cares
You've got to let the people know that Jesus
Let 'em know he cares
You got to let the people
You let the people know that Jesus care-ah-ah-ah ooh ooh ooh woo ooh woo hoo ooh ooh woo hoo
Hey wait a minute, wait a minute. This is the big build up here, the dynamic ending [Spoken]
Woo hoo ooh ooh ETC
Hoo hoo hoo-aaah
Thank you [Spoken]

Talking - thank you england
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. That's what all the big rock groups are doing these days. Thank you. Thank you. Well maybe not the big rock groups, I mean. I mean the Rolling Stones, they never say thank you. Y'know, Mick Jagger, he never says thank you. He just walks around on the stage, you know
I think it's important to say thank you, so thank you, thank you
[Coughs]
Why is it always so cold over here in England? You know, I, I figured out why punk rock bands pogo so often. I really think it's just to keep warm. Well we just finished a tour in the Scandinavian countries, and um nobody could understand what the band was saying. I mean they could understand what I was saying, you know, but the, the band, they speak the original English, you know. A-and they don't teach that in school. I mean the band was always tss trying to be real nice to the audience and say, oh we've had a lovely time being here you know, it's been really great, you know. [Mumbles]
And th', they don't understand that English. Anyway, so with my broken English, you know, my, my English that we developed and, and uh memorized in the colonies, they understand that, so. I remember, I didn't understand English either the first time I came over here. I was listening to the radio, I heard some guy say something like, [Unintelligible] the Beatles and the Rolling Stones [Unintelligible] Radio Luxembourg
Something like that. I don't know what he was saying. I heard him say the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and radio. I understood that much but I didn't know what he was saying an', but I knew it was a disc jockey. 'Cause all over the world disc jockeys talk just alike. That's right, you heard it here first on the Top Boss 40 radio and now for the new hit single from Abba. So I wrote this song about disc jockeys and the Rolling Stones and the Beatles and eh, drugs, an' politics, going to the moon. Everything I could think of. It's called Reader's Digest

[Go to Song Page]
Alice Cooper is a drag queen
Bowie's somewhere in between
Other bands are looking mean
Me, I'm trying to stay clean
I don't dig the radio
Don't like what the charts pick
Rock and roll may not be dead
But it's kinda sick
All over the world disc jockeys talk the same
Every town I play is like the town from where I came
Except for this town. It's weird [Spoken]
Well the Rolling Stones are millionaires
Flower children pallbearers
Beatles said all you need is love
Then they broke up
Jimi took an overdose
Janis followed so close
The whole music scene and
All the bands are pretty comatose
This time last year, people didn't wanna hear
They looked at Jesus from afar
This year he's a superstar
Dear John, who's more popular now
I've been listening to some of Paul's new records
Sometimes I think he really is dead
It's just a joke [Spoken]
Well in 1973, I wonder who we're gonna see
Who's in power now
I think I'll turn on the TV
The man on the news said
Russia's gonna beat us
We shot all our dreamers
There's no one left to lead us
We need a solution, some kinda salvation
Let's send some people to the moon
And gather information
They brought back a big bag of rocks
Only cost forty seven billion
Must be nice rocks
The latest thing they did was a scientist ground up all the moon rocks into powder and fed them to some white mice. Forty seven billion. I suppose if those mice get cancer they're gonna tell everybody not to eat moon rocks [Spoken]
You think it's such a sad thing
When you see a fallen king
Then you find out they're only princes to begin with
Everybody's got to choose
Whether they'll win or lose
Follow God or sing the blues
And who they're gonna sin with
What a mess the world is in
I wonder who began it
Don't ask me, I'm only visiting this planet
This world is not my home
I'm just passing through
How about you

Pardon me
Kissing you like I'm afraid
But I know I'm being played with
And you'll leave me when you get the chance
Off you'll go
In the darkness of the night
Like a bird in freedom's flight
You're thinking only of deliverance
[Imitates trumpet solo]
Close your eyes
And pretend that you are me
See how empty it can be
Making love if love's not really there
Watch me go
Watch me walk away alone
As your clothing comes undone
And you pull the ribbon from your hair
Pardon me [x3]
Pardon me
Kissing you like I'm afraid

talking - kiwis - america
I, I went to Australia and I was very, well you know how sometimes you, you're looking forward to a certain country for what you, you've seen on the postcards or you know th', that's gonna happen there and. Well I went to Australia and I was very disappointed because I didn't see any kangaroos. I looked too, I mean every morning I'd go outside the hotel and I'd stand on the corner, look up and down the street. And then I went to us, ehs, New Zealand, and I didn't see any kiwis. And I really wanted to see a kiwi because when I was, when I was little I had to go to church every Sunday. But before I went to church I had to polish my shoes. So I knew what a kiwi looked like. They're about this big
And um, well last year was our 200th birthday in America. I, I didn't get in. Mmmm. Thank you
I didn't get invited to the party. I was gonna sing this song about America. You know I, I'm, I'm proud of America. We're only 200 years old, and, that's not very old, some countries are 2000 years old. But we've really developed rapidly for a young nation. You know we, we've managed to put people on the moon, and we've managed to go all around the world and tell everybody what to do. You know, if two countries are fighting an', and uh we want 'em to stop fighting, we tell 'em, stop fighting and have peace. And if they don't want peace we give it to 'em
So I wrote this song, I was planning on singing it at the party. Maybe that's why they didn't invite me

the great american novel
[Go to Song Page]
I was born and raised an orphan
In a land that once was free
In a land that poured its love out on the moon
And I grew up in the shadows
Of your silos filled with grain
But you never helped to fill my empty spoon
And when I was ten you murdered law
With courtroom politics
And you learned to make a lie sound just like truth
But I know you better now
And I don't fall for all your tricks
And you've lost the one advantage of my youth
You kill a black man at midnight
Just for talking to your daughter
Then you make his wife your mistress
And you leave her without water
And the sheet you wear upon your face
Is the sheet your children sleep on
At every meal you say a prayer
You don't believe but still you keep on
And your money says in God we trust
But it's against the law to pray in school
You say we beat the Russians to the moon
And I say you starved your children to do it
You were far across the ocean
But the war was not your own
While you were winning theirs
You almost lost the one at home
Did you really think the only way
To bring about real peace
Was to sacrifice your children
And kill all your enemies
Your politicians all make speeches
While your news men all take notes
And they exaggerate the issues
As they shove it down our throats
Is it really up to them
Whether our country sinks or floats
Well I wonder who would lead us
If none of us would vote
My phone is tapped, my lips are chapped
From whispering through the fence
You know every move I make
Or is that just coincidence
Will you try to make my way of life
A little less like jail
If I promise to make tapes and slides
And send them through the mail
And your money says in God we trust
But it's against the law to pray in school
You say we beat the Russians to the moon
I say you starved your children to do it
You say all men are equal, all men are brothers
Then why are the rich more equal than others
Don't ask me for the answers, I've only found one
That a man leaves his darkness when he follows the son
I was born and raised an orphan

talking - angry preachers - flannelgraphs
When I was growing up I had to go to church on Sundays and I, at first didn't quite understand what was going on, because I thought if you believed in God then you should be happy. But when I went to church it didn't seem like they were. Maybe they were, I don't know, I just looked at their faces and they didn't seem to be
Even the preacher seemed to be upset about something every Sunday. He'd get very angry. I don't know what about. He'd tell us things that frightened me. Kinda be up in the front on this pulpit, shaking it and hitting it and walking around on stage. You must repent or you may not enter the kingdom [mumbles]. You know, even the singers seemed to be kind of in a bad mood. They'd come up to the front and take a little gl', drink of water and, an' then start singing
He's got the whole world in his hands [Sung sternly]
I was so frightened. [Chuckles] So. Then I found out that I didn't have to go to the church where everybody else went, I could go downstairs to the children's church. And down there you know, they didn't talk to you real angry. You know, you didn't feel so scared. The teacher downstairs, she'd say now boys and girls, today we're going to study all about Moses. Won't that be fun?
She must have thought we were stupid. She wouldn't even read to us from the bible, like maybe we wouldn't understand it. Y' know, she'd just kinda tell us a story and then to make it even more clear she had this, this flannelgraph, which is like a big piece of cardboard with somebody's pyjamas wrapped around it. And then she had these little cut out cardboard figures and she'd tell us a story like one day the shepherd was out standing in his field. And he noticed that one of his sheep was missing, so he went to look for it. He found it near the edge of a cliff, so he picked it up and put it underneath his arm and went back to the field. We couldn't believe it. And anyway, you know, we watched really closely and he never picked up that lamb. Teacher, she picked it up. And she didn't even get it under his arm, she just kind of stuck it on his shoulder
Anyway I learned, I learned things by going to, to Sunday school. And one of the things I learned I wrote down in a song, with the help of a dictionary to get me over the parts that I didn't know how to say. I started writing when I was about nine, and this is one of the songs come from uh, my education, my early upbringing
[Spoken]

I started writing when I was about nine, and this is one of the songs come from uh, my education, my early upbringing

moses
[Go to Song Page]
Moses tending sheep in the fields one day
He thought he heard a burning scrub-brush say
You gotta free your people
From the Pharaoh's hand
You gotta take 'em all to the promised land
Moses knew that God was talking to him
So he set off to Egypt with a vigor and vim
And Moses bugged the Pharaoh, he bugged him
And he bugged him
'Till he got his people free
He used real bugs
Ow ow ow ow
Yes indeed, ow ow
He got his people free
Ow ow ow ow [x2]
Moses on the banks of the wide Red Sea
He stuck out a stick and one two three
The water rolled back
And the people walked down
And everybody hoped that they wouldn't drown
Then Pharaoh told his army to bring 'em all back
An' here come the chariots, clickety clack
Moses took a stick
And he closed up the water
An' the 'Gyptians all took a bath
Ow ow ow ow
What a laugh
Ow ow they all took a bath
Ow ow ow ow
Dirty 'Gyptians
Ow ow ow ow
Grab my foot, take my hand
Lead me on to the promised land
Milk and honey, milk and honey
Milk and honey, milk and honey
Me and all your people are here
So keep on sending manna
From the atmosphere
Milk and honey, milk and honey
Milk and honey, milk and honey
Oooh
Well after forty long years in the wilderness
They finally saw their potential metropolis
They all gave thanks
And they all praised the Lord
Even though it took time he kept his word
He grab-ed their foot and he tooketh their hand
And he brung'd them all over
To the promised land
But it seems to me like an awful long time to be
Looking for a home
Ow ow ow ow
A mighty long roam
Ow ow ow
Looking for a home
Ow ow ow ow
Ow ow ow ow

[Go to Song Page]
I'd like to sing a song about the history of civilization, ah eh from the beginning up until a few days ago. You'll probably notice I, I skipped over the thirteenth and fourteenth century. But it's not by mistake it's just that I think they're kind of boring [Spoken]
Last night I had that same old dream, it rocked me in my sleep
And left me the impression that the sandman plays for keeps
I dreamed I was in concert on the middle of a cloud
John Wayne and Billy Graham were giving breath mints to the crowd
I fell through a hole in heaven, I left the stage for good
And when I landed on the earth I was back in Hollywood
Rats
The California earthquake tore the land in half
While San Andreas cleared her throat I heard Psunami laugh
The ground began to tremble, the land began to sway
And people in the other states, they were glad they'd moved away
But suddenly California just floated in the breeze
While every state that wasn't sank down into the seas
And soon I saw Atlantis rumble and rise high
And the great egg of Euphrates came down out of the sky
And out stepped Shirley Temple with Guy Kibbee, who was dead
And that communist Bill Robinson, whom Shirley called black red
They had a marionette of Harpo Marx, they said it was a inside joke
But when I honked his horn he came alive and these were the words he spoke
With the he sun about to shift and the continents adrift
Will the ice caps drown us all or will we burn
We've polluted what we own, will we reap what we have sown
Are we headed for the end or can we turn
We've paved the forest, killed the streams
Burned the bridges to our dreams
The earth is bursting at the seams
And in pain of childbirth screams
As it gives life to what seems
To either be an age that gleams
Or simply lays there dying
If this goes on will life survive, how can it
Out of the grave, oh who will save our planet
I said Harpo I'm pleased to meet you, I always thought you were a scream
He said have you ever thought of having Helen Keller in your dreams
I said Errol Flynn dropped by but he tried to steal my girl
Then she ran off with Ronald Colman, said something about a new world
Now I'm stuck with my own cooking, I'm lonely can't you see
Well he grabbed my leg and said exactly eighty nine words to me
Count 'em
Let the proud but dying nation kiss the last generation
It's the year of the pill, age of the gland
We have landed on the moon but we'll clutter that up soon
Our sense of freedom's gotten out of hand
We kill our children, swap our wives
We've learned to greet a man with knives
We swallow pills in fours and fives
Our cities look like crumbling hives
Man does not live, he just survives
Love is a corpse, we sit and watch it harden
We left it oh so long ago the garden
The strings snapped briskly then went slack, the marionette lay dead
While Hoover played with the motorcade the body slumped and bled
The man who held the camera disappeared into the crowd
I said the hope of youth, fictitious truth lays covered in a shroud
Then up walked Elmo Lincoln and he said I beg your pardon
But we left it oh so long ago the garden
We left it oh so long ago the garden garden garden garden garden
Garden garden garden

I was walking down the road when I bumped into you
I was walking down the road when I bumped into you
Mmm you stopped me, you touched me, you looked me in the eye
I had the feeling that you knew me, I decided you must die
I pulled out my Thornton Special, I shot you in the head
I threw you in the alley way and I left you for dead
Then a man with a hat came up from behind
The sky went black and I thought I was blind
He put his hand into my jacket and left a million dollar bills
He put his hand into my pockets and gave me women and thrills
And when I turned around to thank him, there was no one there but me
Both my hands were filled with sand, I was standing by the sea
We had dinner at eight and women at nine
The party was great till we ran out of wine
Yeah, there was a knock upon the bedroom door, my knees began to shake
And this man came in and melted all the candles on my cake
He said I've come here to escort you, it's time for you to go
He opened up my body, he took away my soul
Wo oh oh oh oh oh wo ETC
I was running down the road
Running down the road, I was trying to leave
An' I saw you all alone in between the thieves
And when the lightning flashed I saw somebody hanging from a tree
And as I turned to walk away I realized it was me
I pulled out my Thornton special, I shot me in the head
I threw me in the alleyway and I left me for dead
I was going down the road
Down the road
Just like you
I was going down the road

the outlaw
[Go to Song Page]
Some say he was an outlaw
That he roamed across the land
With a band of unschooled ruffians
And a few young fishermen
No one knew just where he came from
Or exactly what he'd done
But they said it must be something bad
That keeps him on the run
Some say he was a poet
That he'd stand upon the hill
And his words could calm an angry crowd
Or make the waves stand still
And he spoke in many parables
That few could understand
But the people sat for hours
Just to listen to this man
Some say he was a sorcerer
A man of mystery
He could walk upon the water
He could make a blind man see
And he conjured wine at weddings
And did tricks with fish and bread
He talked of being born again
And raised people from the dead
Some say a politician
He talked of being free
He was followed by the masses
On the shores of Galilee
He spoke out against corruption
And he bowed to no decree
And they feared his strength and power
So they nailed him to a tree
Some say he was the son of God
A man above all men
But he came to be a servant
And to set us free from sin
And that's who I believe he was
'Cause that's who I believe
And I think we should get ready
'Cause it's almost time to leave
And I think we should get ready
'Cause it's time for us to leave
Some say he was an outlaw
That he roamed across the land

Life was filled with guns and war
Everyone got trampled on the floor
I wish we'd all been ready
Children died, the days grew cold
A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold
I wish we'd all been ready
There's no time to change your mind
The son has come and you've been left behind
A man and wife asleep in bed
She hears a noise and turns her head, he's gone
I wish we'd all been ready
Two men walking up a hill
One disappears and one's left standing still
I wish we'd all been ready
There's no time to change your mind
The son has come and you've been left behind

why should the devil
[Go to Song Page]
I want the people to know
That he saved my soul
But I still like to listen to the radio
They say rock and roll is wrong
We'll give you one more chance
I say I feel so good I'm gonna get up and dance
I know what's right, I know what's wrong
I don't confuse it
Well all I'm really trying to say is
Why should the devil have all the good music
I feel good every day
You know Jesus is the rock and he rolled my blues away
They say to cut my hair
They're driving me insane
I grew it out long to make room for my brain
But sometimes people don't understand
What's a good boy doing in a rock and roll band
There's nothing wrong or even communistic about playing blues licks
If you got a reason tell me to my face
Why should the devil have all the good music
There's nothing wrong with what I play, aaaah
Jesus is the rock and he rolled my blues away
Yes he did, oh
I'm not knocking the hymns
Just give me a song that has a beat
I'm not knocking the hymns
Just give me something that moves my feet
I don't like some of those funeral marches
I ain't dead yet
Go Bob Larson go [Spoken]
Jesus told the truth
Jesus showed the way
There's one more thing I'd like to say
They nailed him to the cross
And they laid him in the ground
But they shoulda known you can't keep a good man down
I feel good every day
I ain't gonna lose it
All I'm really trying to say is
Why should the devil have all the good music
I've been filled, I feel okay
Yeah yeah yeah
Jesus is the rock and he rolled my blues
Jesus is the rock and he'll roll your blues
Jesus is the rock and he rolled my blues away

When you first begin your journey
You're not sure of who you are
And the lessons that you're learning
They don't seem to take you far
And you just can't keep from stumbling
Though you try so hard to stand
And the truth can be so humbling
When it's just beyond your hand
As though youth were my invention
As though love lay undefined
To stay free was my intention
To stay young and unconfined
And so I held my pride above you
Oh yes, what a fool was I
Holding back those words I love you
And letting out that word goodbye
And I was wrong to let you go
I was a child and I did not know about the love
That we both should have given
And now you're gone so far away
I hope I'll see you again someday
But if I don't, I hope I'll see you in heaven
I was foolish in my younger days
To think they'd never end
Life confused me with its changing ways
And I could not comprehend
All the meaning in those moments
Now lost like footprints in the sand
And I'm standing here remembering
But it's so hard to understand
And I was wrong to let you go
I was a child and I did not know
About the love that we both should have given
And now you're gone so far away
I hope I'll see you again someday
But if I don't, I hope I'll see you in heaven
I've been sitting in this garden
In the middle of my days
My memories fade and harden
As the years they slip away
An' I've been looking in this mirror
At the age around my eyes
Time is such an earnest labourer
Precision is his neighbour
Lay my body in the ground
But let my spirit touch the sky
I was wrong to let you go
I was a child and I did not know about the love
That we both should have given
And now you’re gone so far away
I hope I'll see you again someday baby
But if I don't, I hope I'll see you in heaven
If I don't, I hope I'll see you in heaven

deep blue
[Go to Song page]
I stay at home
You know I drink to pass the time away
It only brings me back to yesterday
I put the coffee on and I, I listen to the radio
I keep looking at the telephone baby
I've been thinking about you for a long long time
My soul's sinking in deep blue and my future's black
Oh baby come back
You're all I think about
No matter what you did
I just, I can't release the love we made
I can't erase my mind and just forget about you, no
It's gone beyond all that
And I've got to have your love again
I've got to have my life begin again
I've been thinking about you for a long long time
My soul's sinking in deep blue and my future's black
Oh baby come back
You're all I think about
Baby come back
Ba la la la du la la
Ba la la da d' da da
Da da da da mu la la la
Da la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la
Da la la la yes yeh yeah yeah
The days and weeks fly by
As I watch my feelings slowly die
I feel the hope inside me pass away
I lost my love, I lost my hope
I lost my will to live
I'm a heartbroken fugitive
I've been thinking about you for a long long time
My soul's sinking in deep blue and my future's black
I’ve been thinking about you baby
Not easy living without you
I've been thinking about you
But I've stopped hoping you'll come back
I've stopped hoping you'll come back
You never treated me right
All we ever did was fight
It don't really matter if you don't love me no more
Something happened to me last night
You wanna know what it was
I'll tell you
I planned to end it all
And I went back to my hotel room
I propped the door closed with a broom
I opened up my drawer and I reached inside to get my gun
But found a bible from the Gideons
I'll be thinking about it for a long long time
I'll be reading all about it for a long long time
Yeah yeah
I'll be thinking about it for a long long time
Oh-oh
I wonder what happened
I wonder what happened to my gun
I mean I know I put it there
But maybe the maid took it
Yeah I can call down to the front desk and find out if the maid took it
Long long time
Long long time
Long long long long long long
Long long time
Oooh
I stay at home
You know I drink to pass the time away
It only brings me back to yesterday
I put the coffee on and I, I listen to the radio
I keep looking at the telephone baby
I've been thinking about you for a long long time

I just, I can't release the love we made
I can't erase my mind and just forget about you, no
It's gone beyond all that
And I've got to have your love again
I've got to have my life begin again
I've been thinking about you for a long long time
My soul's sinking in deep blue and my future's black
Oh baby come back
You're all I think about
Baby come back
Ba la la la du la la
Ba la la da d' da da
Da da da da mu la la la
Da la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la
Da la la la yes yeh yeah yeah
The days and weeks fly by
As I watch my feelings slowly die
I feel the hope inside me pass away
I lost my love, I lost my hope
I lost my will to live
I'm a heartbroken fugitive
I've been thinking about you for a long long time
My soul's sinking in deep blue and my future's black
I’ve been thinking about you baby
Not easy living without you
I've been thinking about you
But I've stopped hoping you'll come back
I've stopped hoping you'll come back
You never treated me right
All we ever did was fight
It don't really matter if you don't love me no more
Something happened to me last night
You wanna know what it was
I'll tell you
I planned to end it all
And I went back to my hotel room
I propped the door closed with a broom
I opened up my drawer and I reached inside to get my gun
But found a bible from the Gideons
I'll be thinking about it for a long long time
I'll be reading all about it for a long long time
Yeah yeah
I'll be thinking about it for a long long time
Oh-oh
I wonder what happened
I wonder what happened to my gun
I mean I know I put it there
But maybe the maid took it
Yeah I can call down to the front desk and find out if the maid took it
Long long time
Long long time
Long long long long long long
Long long time
Oooh
talking - rumors
I heard some rumors about me. That I had stopped believing in everything and I was taking drugs and stuff like that, and I was really upset to hear these rumors. So I asked around and I found out it's not true. So I wrote a song about it
[Song starts]
A little ballad. Sweet little thing, if you like slow songs. One two, one two

shot down
[Go to Song Page]
I've been shot down, talked about
Some people scandalize my name
But here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
I've been knocked down, kicked around
But like a moth drawn to the flame
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Wo oh ho oh
I've been rebuked for the things I've said
For the songs I've written and the life I've led
Some people don't understand me but I'm not surprised
Because you can't see nothing when you close your eyes
They say I'm sinful and backslidden
That I have left to follow fame
But here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Wo oh ho oh
Go Johnny go [Spoken]
You wanna talk about my life, well listen to me
You got the facts all backwards, one two three
Spreading rumors and gossip is a real bad game
The only name to spread is Jesus name
I've been shot down, talked about
Some people scandalize my name
But here I am, talking 'bout Jesus brother
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus sister
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Wo ho ho ho
[Chuckles]
Ah yeah [Spoken]
That's close enough for rock and roll [Spoken]

song for a small circle of friends
[Go to Song Page]
Well my life is filled with songs
But I just could not get along without my friends
And I'm happy now but when this good life ends
I know a better life begins
And love to Randy Stonehill
With his guitar full volume on his amp
Wherever he is, he's so crazy but he knows it
And I love him as we both crawl toward the lamp
With Clapton on guitar
And Charlie Watts on drums
McCartney on the Hofner bass
With blisters on his thumbs
Dear Bobby watch your fears all hide
And disappear while love inside starts growing
Ah let it start growing
You're older but less colder
Than the jokes and folks you spent your childhood snowing
And someone died for all you friends
But even better yet he lives again
And if this song does not make sense to you
I hope his spirit slips on through
He loves you
He loves you, he loves you
If these words do not appeal to you
I hope his spirit slips on through
He loves you
He loves you
Oh yes he really does
He loves you, he loves you
If this song does not make sense to you
I hope the spirit slips on through
You know he loves you
Yeah ye-eh ye-eh
Thank you. ??? [Spoken]

if god is my father
[Go to Song Page]
If God is my father
And you are my brother
Then why can't we bother
To really reach out and love one another
Why do we keep on acting the way we do
The way we treat each other
It just breaks my heart in two
Once we were happy
Oh yes, once in the garden
And then a lie broke the stillness
And our hearts began to harden
And hoping to be wiser man has reached too far
Sometimes I think that we've advanced
But then I look at where we are
And oh I cry
I feel like crying
Sometimes the tears don't come
But inside I know I'm crying
Why do we argue
Why are there so many churches
With half of them empty
You know some represent a million dollar purchase
What's happened to the message given by our lord
To take his gospel to the streets
And share our money with the poor
And learn to love
He said love is the greatest thing
We've got to learn to love
Love is the greatest thing
If God is my father
And you are my brother
Then why can't we bother
To really reach out, to reach out and love one another
Why do we keep on acting the way we do
The way we treat each other
It must break his heart in two
We've got to learn to love [x5]

the rock that doesn't roll
[Go to Song Page]
I was lost and blind then a friend of mine
Came and took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
That was in another land
Now my life has changed, it's rearranged
When I think of my past I feel so strange
Wowie zowie well he saved my soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I was all alone like a rolling stone
I was going nowhere fast
I was on my own so far from home
When the future touched my past
Now he gave me rest, you know I feel so blessed
I finally feel like I've passed the test
I wanna be like him, that's my goal
Like a rock that doesn't roll
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Ah-ow ow
I was all alone like a rolling stone
I was a-going nowhere fast
I was on the road so far from home
When the future touched my past
You know I feel so good just like I knew I would
He make everybody feel good like they should
Wowie zowie he don't roll
You know he's the rock that does not roll
Yeah he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body, he's great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't
Rock that doesn't
Rock that doesn't rock
You've got to rock me on the water
You've got to rock me from my grave
You've got to rock me till I'm black and blue
You've got to rock me till I'm, rock me till I'm saved
Yes he's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I wanna tell you
He's the rock that doesn't roll

talking - pressure
It's not easy to grow up with so much pressure on us from everywhere. Our teachers are telling us to do one thing and our parents are insisting we live another way. And we've got our friends wondering why we don't, you know, drink what they drink, smoke what they smoke, go where they go, do what they do. Everybody that was ever born has lived under that kind of pressure. And the tendency, I think, is to look back at your life and regret some of the things that have happened, and to wish that you could change them. But you can't. They're in the past and you cannot reach them. And we shouldn't dwell on the past
And we shouldn't concentrate so much on the future either. Planning and scheming wonderful things when we have no control over the future. But what we can do is live each day simply and honestly and sit on the front porch with our friends and watch the sun go down and enjoy the food we eat and love each other and love God. And let our little lights grow brighter than the sunlight. That's what we can do
[Spoken]

it's only today that counts
[Go to Song Page]
It's just no good to lay in bed at night
And think about your past
About how you might have done things differently
If it hadn't happened all so fast
Just close your eyes and go to asleep
And let the angels bring you dreams
Let those years unwind behind you
And float away on silent streams
You've gotta live your life the best you can
Though you'll sometimes do your worst
You've gotta laugh when you fail
It doesn't matter anyway
Life is a play that's unrehearsed
Learn to trust your life to God
You know the future is in his hands
Only faith will help you meet your life's demands
Oh yeah
There's no use dreaming of a perfect future
Or regretting a troubled past
It's only today that counts
So live it like it might be your last
It's only today that counts
So live it like it might be your last
It's just no good to lay in bed at night
And think about your past
About how you might have done things differently
But it just happened much too fast
Oh you know, just close your eyes and go to asleep
And let the angels bring you dreams
Let those years and fears unwind behind you
And float away on silent streams
Ah yes
Close your eye, go to sleep baby
There's no use dreaming of a perfect future
Or regretting a troubled past

C'mon let that tape keep rolling

C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon

C'mon (c'mon)
That's your cue to enter. Now once you come in you have to stay in because we need a big chorus in the background to do this right, and you're it. So when I go like this that means it's your turn. Do they get union wages for this? Okay, ready? [Spoken]
Well I woke up in the morning, I said a morning prayer
I washed my face with soap and ran my fingers through my hair
I went down to the studio on Hollywood and Vine
The clock said seven thirty, I made it just in time
I greeted the musicians and grabbed the nearest chair
I poured my cup of coffee and I told the engineer
C'mon let that tape keep rolling [x4]
C'mon let that tape keep rolling, c'mon
The first song that we cut was called "Lonely By Myself"
I'll do the vocal later you can leave it on the shelf
The second song we cut was called "Unlucky Blues"
The session's getting better now, we're turning on the juice
The third song took us seven takes, the first one took us ten
Let's take it from the top and do the chorus once again
C'mon let that tape keep rolling [x4]
C'mon let that tape keep rolling, c'mon c'mon c'mon
Do you hear me singing on your record machine
The piano's banging, the guitar's twanging
The water cooler's clanging, the light bulb's hanging
The music's playing, the production's clean
We'll cross fade all the tracks, don't leave no spaces in between
C'mon let that tape keep rolling [x4]
Woo woo
Woo woo woo
I started out ten years ago, my guitar in my hand
I took the message in my heart and layed it on the lamp
I went down to the Tower to record Upon This Rock
I wanted to say something, I just let the music talk
Don't know where I am going but I know who I must be
Don't care how long it take me 'cause there's lots of things to see
C'mon (c'mon) let that tape keep rolling [x5]
C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon
C'mon let that tape keep rolling
C'mon (c'mon) let that love keep flowing
C'mon (c'mon) let your light keep shining

I would just like, I would just like to say that you're beautiful and thank you for all of your love, and good night. Ha ha ha, ah
There ain't no more, there ain't no more. I had to sell my guitar, it's gone. Okay I, I think I can play something on the piano, 'cause I don't have my gui'
I would like to sing you a song that I don't think you've heard before. It's a song that my sister wrote. I love my sister very much. Her name is Kristy Beth and she lives out in the woods with the squirrels and they ah. She really does, she loves nature. She wrote this song and I'd like to sing it for you

rachael and me
[Go to Song Page]
Rachael and me walked along the beach
One of us wore a frown
Rachael built sandcastles
While I tore them down
I dug up sand crabs
And threw them far from shore
Rachael returned them
While I dug up more
I gathered seaweed
And made a lovely wreath
Rachael wouldn't wear it
So I threw it at her feet
She wouldn't watch
While I did my best headstand
So while she was sleeping
I buried her with sand
[Whistling]
Huh?
Okay mom, I'm coming
What?
I don't know where she is [Spoken]
Turn this up louder. Shhh, this isn't a football game [Spoken]

strong love, strange peace
[Go to Song Page]
Backstage, I cross the middle ground
Curtain up and house lights down
I sing love songs and pass myself around
And afterwards
Some people say they thought I put them down
They feel so bad
It does not seem to matter what I say
I hope tomorrow they have a better day
They seem so lost
They need release
They need your strong love and strange peace
Reporters question me, is this a new direction for the young
How lamb like their faces
How snake like their tongues
They quote me perfectly
Then rewrite every word I speak
Then go away convinced we're all some new kind of freaks
I feel so good
It does not matter what they say
[Chuckles]
I hope tomorrow they have a better day
We're all so lost
We need release
We need your strong love and strange peace
We need your strong love and strange peace
We need your strong love and strange peace
Good night and, and really God bless you all [Spoken]

It does not matter what they say
[Chuckles]
I hope tomorrow they have a better day
We're all so lost
We need release
We need your strong love and strange peace
We need your strong love and strange peace
We need your strong love and strange peace
Good night and, and really God bless you all [Spoken]
Thank you [Spoken]
A third disc of outtakes was also available, titled The Clown Jewels

He's an unidentified flying object
You will see him in the air
He's an unidentified flying object
You will drop your hands and stare
You will be afraid to tell your neighbours
They might think that it's not true
But when they open up the morning papers
They will know they've seen him too
He will come back like he promised
With the price already paid
He will gather up his followers
And take them all away
He's an unidentified flying object
He will sweep down from the sky
He's an unidentified flying object
Some will sleep but will not die
He's an unidentified flying object
Coming back to take you home
He's an unidentified flying object
He will roll away your stone
And if there's life on other planets
I'm sure that he must know
And he's been there once already
And has died to save their souls
He's an unidentified flying object
You will see him in the air
He's an unidentified flying object

Could you turn up this guitar microphone and this one's, the vocal microphone seems louder. It's too loud and the guitar microphone's not loud enough. To these deaf ears [Spoken]
Eldridge was a bad man
At least that's what the people said
But Eldridge he was only working out
All the things they put inside his head
He was like an angry lion
Trapped in a vice
They couldn't keep him down
And so they put his soul on ice
Well they locked him in a prison cell
Till he managed to get away
But living on the run ain't no fun
Both eyes open every night and day
Just a little peace and quiet
Was his one desire
But it never came
Till something set his soul on fire
Now the man in the moon
Gave him the word
With a face that was clear
And a voice that was heard
Go back to your people but lean on me
They can lock you up again but I have set you free
Eldridge says he's different now
But a lot of people don't agree
They say he's only trying to free himself
I guess in time we all shall see
But I do believe his message
He ain't no liar
When he says that Jesus
Can set your soul on fire
Soul, soul on fire [x2]
Soul on fire [x6]
Thank you, mmm [Spoken]

a shaggy dog story
When I was growing up I used to get beat up all the time.
if god is my father
[Go to Song Page]
If God is my father
Then you are my brother
Then why can't we bother
To really reach out and love one another
Why do we keep on acting the way we do
The way we treat each other
It must break his heart in two
Once we were happy
Oh yes, once in the garden
And then a lie broke the stillness
And our hearts began to harden
And hoping to be wiser man has reached too far
Sometimes I think that we've advanced
But then I look at where we are
And oh I cry
I feel like crying
Sometimes the tears don't come
But inside I know I'm crying
Why do we argue
Why are there so many churches
With half of them empty
And you know some represent a million dollar purchase
What's happened to the message given by our lord
To take his gospel to the street
And share our money with the poor
And learn to love
He said love is the greatest thing
We've got to learn to love
Love is the greatest thing
If God is my father
Then you are my brother
Then why can't we bother
To really reach out, to really reach out and love one another
Why do we keep on acting the way we do
The way we treat each other
It just breaks my heart in two
We've got to learn to love [x3]

When you first begin your journey
You're not sure of who you are
And the lessons that you're learning
They don't seem to take you far
And you just can't keep from stumbling
Though you try so hard to stand
And the truth can be so humbling
When it's just beyond your hand
As though youth were my invention
As though love lay undefined
To stay free was my intention
To stay young and unconfined
And so I held my pride above you
Oh yes, what a fool was I
Holding back those words I love you
And letting out that word goodbye
I was wrong to let you go
I was a child and I did not know about the love
That we both should have given
And now you're gone so far away
I hope I'll see you again someday
But if I don't, I hope I'll see you in heaven
I was foolish in my younger days
To think they'd never end
Life confused me with its changing ways
And I could not comprehend
All the meaning in those moments
Now lost like footprints in the sand
And I'm standing here remembering
But it's so hard to understand
And I was wrong to let you go
I was a child and I did not know
About the love that we both should have given
And now you're gone so far away
I hope I'll see you again someday
But if I don't, I hope I'll see you in heaven
I've been sitting in this garden
In the middle of my days
And my memories fade and harden
As the years they slip away
An' I've been looking in this mirror
At the age around my eyes
Time is such an earnest labourer
Precision is his neighbour
Lay my body in the ground
But let my spirit touch the sky
And I was wrong to let you go
I was a child and I did not know about the love
That we both should have given
And now you’re gone so far away
I hope I'll see you again someday
But if I don't, I hope I'll see you in heaven
If I don't, I hope I'll see you in heaven

why should the devil...
[Go to Song Page]
I want the people to know
That he saved my soul
But I still like to listen to the radio
They say rock and roll is wrong
We'll give you one more chance
I say I feel so good I'm gonna get up and dance
I know what's right, I know what's wrong
I don't confuse it
Well all I'm really trying to say is
Why should the devil have all the good music
There's nothing wrong with what I play
You know Jesus is the rock and he rolled my blues away
They say to cut my hair
They're driving me insane
I grew it out long to make room for my brain
Sometimes people don't understand
What's a good boy doing with a rock and roll band
Well all I'm really trying to say is
Why should the devil have all the good music
There's nothing wrong with what I play, aaaah
You know Jesus is the rock and he rolled my blues away
Yes he did, alright
I'm not knocking the hymns
Just give me a song that has a beat
I'm not knocking the hymns
Just give me something that moves my feet
I don't like some of those funeral marches
I ain't dead yet
Jesus told the truth
Jesus showed the way
There's one more thing I'd like to say
They nailed him to the cross
And they laid him in the ground
But they shoulda known you can't keep a good man down
I feel good every day
I don't intend to lose it
Well all I'm really trying to say is
Why should the devil have all the good music
I've been filled, I feel okay
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Jesus is the rock and he rolled my blues
Jesus is the rock and roll your blues
Jesus is the rock and herolled my blues away
Yeah yeah
I want the people to know
That he saved my soul
But I still like to listen to the radio

[Go to Song Page]
Well I woke up in the morning, I said a morning prayer
I washed my face with soap and ran my fingers through my hair
I went down to the studio on Hollywood and Vine
The clock said seven thirty, I made it just in time
I greeted the musicians, grabbed the nearest chair
I poured my cup of coffee and I told the engineer
C'mon let that tape keep rolling [x4]
C'mon let that tape keep rolling, c'mon
Well we started out
The first song that we cut was called "Lonely By Myself"
I'll do the vocal later you can leave it on the shelf
The second song we cut
The first
Who know, who knows, who knows
The first song that we cut
No we're thinking about the second verse [Spoken]
One two, one two three [Spoken]
The first song that
No no no
Take it to the second verse
Okay
Now you see this is very spontaneous. They don't know what they're doing, I don't know what I'm doing and you certainly don't know what you're doing [Spoken]
Can we start from the second verse
One two three
One two, one two three
The first song that we cut was called "Lonely By Myself"
I'll do the vocal later you can leave it on the shelf
The second song we cut was called "Unlucky Blues"
The session's getting better now, we're turning on the juice
The third song took us seven takes, the first one took us ten
Let's take it from the top and do the chorus once again
C'mon let that tape keep rolling [x4]
C'mon let that tape keep rolling, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon
Do you hear me singing on your record machine
The piano's banging, the guitar's twanging
The water cooler's clanging, the light bulb's hanging
The music's playing, the production's clean
We'll cross fade all the tracks, don't leave no spaces in between
C'mon let that tape keep rolling [x3]
C'mon let that keep rolling
Woo woo
Woo woo woo
I started out ten years ago, my guitar in my hand
I took the message in my heart and layed it on the lamp
I went down to the Tower to record Upon This Rock
I wanted to say something, I just let the music talk
Don't know where I am going but I know who I must be
Don't care how long it take me 'cause there's lots of things to see
C'mon let that tape keep rolling [x5]
C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon
C'mon let that tape keep rolling
C'mon let that love keep flowing
C'mon let your light keep shining
C'mon be careful what you're signing
C'mon let that tape keep rolling
C'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon
Woo
He come down my street
He came to my house
He knocked on my door
He came in my heart
You make feel so good lord
So good, so good, so good, so tough, so tough
Ba-bou bou bou bou ba back
Home bou bou bou back

deep blue
[Go to Song page]
I stay at home
You know I drink to pass the time away
It only brings me back to yesterday
I put the coffee on and I listen to the radio
But keep looking at the telephone
I've been thinking about you for a long long time
My soul's sinking in deep blue and my future's black
Oh baby come back
You're all I think about
No matter what you did
I just can't release the love we made
I can't erase my mind and just forget about you, no
It's gone beyond all that
And I got to have your love again
I got to have my life begin
I've been thinking about you for a long long time
My soul's sinking in deep blue and my future's black
Baby come back
You're all I think about
O-baby come back
La la la la du la la
La la la da d' da da
Da da da da mu la la la
Da la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la la
I, I watch the weeks fly by
And I feel my feelings slowly die
I know the hope inside me passed away
I lost my love, I lost my hope
I lost my will to live
I'm a heartbroken fugitive
I've been thinking about you for a long long time
I've been thinking about you and my future's black
I’ve been thinking about you baby
Not easy living without you
I've been thinking about you
But I've stopped hoping you'll come back
I've stopped hoping you'll come back
You never treated me right
All we ever did was fight
It don't really matter if you love me no more
'Cause something happened to me last night
You wanna know what it was
I'll tell you
I planned to end it all
And I went back to my hotel room
I propped the door closed with a broom
I opened up the drawer and I reached inside to get my gun
But found a bible from the Gideons
And I'll be thinking about that for a long long time
Oh, I'll be thinking about it for a long long time
Long long time
I wonder what happened to my gun
I know I put it there in the drawer
I put it there myself
I don't know, maybe, maybe the maid took it
Yeah I can call down to the front desk and find out if the maid took it
I stay at home
You know I drink to pass the time away
It only brings me back to yesterday
I put the coffee on and I listen to the radio

[Go to Song Page]
One two three four [Spoken]
I've been shot down, talked about
Some people scandalize my name
But here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
I've been knocked down, kicked around
But like a moth drawn to the flame
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Wo oh ho oh
I've been rebuked for the things I've said
For the songs I've written and the life I've led
Some people don't understand me but I'm not surprised
Because you can't see nothing when you close your eyes
They say I'm sinful and backslidden
That I have left to follow fame
But here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Wo oh ho oh
Alright
Go Bob Larson go [Spoken]
You wanna talk about my life, then listen to me
You got the facts all backwards, one two three
And spreading rumors and gossip is a real bad game
The only name to spread is Jesus name
I've been shot down, talked about
Some people scandalize my name
But here I am, talking 'bout Jesus brother
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus sister
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Wo ho ho ho
Bye bye baby

small circle of friends
[Go to Song Page]
Well my life is filled with songs
But I just could not get along without my friends
And I'm happy now but when this good life ends
I know a better life begins
And love to Randy Stonehill
With his guitar full volume on his amp
Wherever he is, he's so crazy but he knows it
And I love him as we both crawl toward the lamp
With Clapton on guitar
And Charlie Watts on drums
McCartney on the Hofner bass
With blisters on his thumbs
Dear Bobby watch your fears all hide
And disappear while love inside starts growing
Ah let it start growing
You're older but less colder
Than the jokes and folks you spent your childhood snowing
And someone died for all you friends
But even better yet he lives again
And if this song does not make sense to you
I hope his spirit slips on through
He loves you
He loves you, he loves you
If these words do not appeal to you
I hope his spirit slips on through
He loves you
He loves you
Oh yes he really does
He loves you, he loves you
If this song does not make sense to you
I hope the spirit slips on through
You know he loves you
Yeah ye-eh ye-eh
Thank you. ??? [Spoken]

I know a better life begins
And love to Randy Stonehill
With his guitar full volume on his amp
Wherever he is, he's so crazy but he knows it
And I love him as we both crawl toward the lamp
With Clapton on guitar
And Charlie Watts on drums
McCartney on the Hofner bass
With blisters on his thumbs
Dear Bobby watch your fears all hide
And disappear while love inside starts growing
Ah let it start growing
You're older but less colder
Than the jokes and folks you spent your childhood snowing
And someone died for all you friends
But even better yet he lives again
And if this song does not make sense to you
I hope his spirit slips on through
He loves you
He loves you, he loves you
If these words do not appeal to you
I hope his spirit slips on through
He loves you
He loves you
Oh yes he really does
He loves you, he loves you
If this song does not make sense to you
I hope the spirit slips on through
You know he loves you
Yeah ye-eh ye-eh
Thank you. ??? [Spoken]
the rock that doesn't roll
[Go to Song Page]
I was lost and blind then a friend of mine
Came and took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
That was in another land
Now my life has changed, it's rearranged
When I think of my past I feel so strange
Wowie zowie well he saved my soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I was all alone like a rolling stone
I was going nowhere fast
I was on my own so far from home
When the future touched my past
Now he gave me rest, you know I feel so blessed
I finally feel like I've passed the test
I wanna be like him, that's my goal
Like a rock that doesn't roll
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Ah-ow ow
I was all alone like a rolling stone
I was a-going nowhere fast
I was on the road so far from home
When the future touched my past
You know I feel so good just like I knew I would
He make everybody feel good like they should
Wowie zowie he don't roll
You know he's the rock that does not roll
Yeah he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body, he's great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't
Rock that doesn't
Rock that doesn't rock
You've got to rock me on the water
You've got to rock me from my grave
You've got to rock me till I'm black and blue
You've got to rock me till I'm, rock me till I'm saved
Yes he's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I wanna tell you
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Yes he's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Alright alright. Yeah [Spoken]

we really shouldn't worry
it's only today that counts
[Go to Song Page]
It's just no good to lay in bed at night
And think about your past
About how you might have done things differently
If it hadn't happened all so fast
Just close your eyes and go to asleep
And let the angels bring you dreams
Let those years unwind behind you
And float away on silent streams
You've gotta live your life the best you can
Though you'll sometimes do your worst
You've gotta laugh when you fail
It doesn't matter anyway
Life is a play that's unrehearsed
Learn to trust your life to God
You know the future is in his hands
Only faith will help you meet your life's demands
Oh yeah
There's no use dreaming of a perfect future
Or regretting a troubled past
It's only today that counts
So live it like it might be your last
It's only today that counts
So live it like it might be your last
It's just no good to lay in bed at night
And think about your past
About how you might have done things differently
But it just happened much too fast
Oh you know, just close your eyes and go to asleep
And let the angels bring you dreams
Let those years and fears unwind behind you
And float away on silent streams
Ah yes
Close your eye, go to sleep baby
There's no use dreaming of a perfect future
Or regretting a troubled past
It's only today that counts
So live it like it might be your last
It's only today that counts
So live it like it might be your last
It's only today that counts
Live it like it might be your last
It's only today that counts
Live it like it might be your last
It's only today that counts
Live it like it might be your last
Live live live
Live it like it might be your last
Live live
Live it like it might be your last
Live it like it might be your last
I think we have time for one more song. That was gonna be our last one but, who cares [Spoken]
