I eh read ss, eh this interview in Buzz magazine. I really disagreed with something right at the top of the article. I disagreed with it completely but now I'm not so sure. They said I was a grand-daddy of Jesus rock and tonight I feel like it [Spoken]
I feel like dying
Done all I can
Well I lost my woman
She ran off with another man
I feel like dying
Like I got nothing to lose
I know I need something
But I do not need these blues
What am I gonna do about it
What am I gonna do
What am I gonna do about it
What am I gonna do
I feel like dying
And I can't take the strain
My life's in trouble
And I cannot take this pain
I feel like dying
Like this is the end
I need an answer
Oh I need a friend
Well you can just say
What am I gonna do about it
What am I gonna do
What am I gonna do about it
What am I gonna do
I feel like dying
Ah yeah yeah yeah
I feel like dying

Some of these songs tonight seem to have a slightly different meaning than when I originally wrote ‘em. I feel like dying and eh. Yeah, an’ an’ eh, what? Thank you. That's nice to know. I should hope so. Yeah life is sometimes hard you know. Life is hard and [Spoken]
Man is born in trouble
Everybody's got the blues
People looking for an answer
People hoping for good news
So if you know the answer
Then there's one thing you must do
You must walk, if you can
You must talk
You must hurry up to beat the clock
You must tell 'em to get ready so they can leave the past behind
Ow ow ow oh oh oh oh
When I look outside my window
It's as dark as it could be
But I know the son is coming
To wake the world from sleep
I'm going away, hmm mmm mmm
I'm feeling fine, yeah yeah-eh
And when it's time to go
You gotta leave the past behind
Woh ho ho ho
Woh
[Whole song is sung acapella]

why can't you be good
[Go to Song Page]
Yeah the thing about eh, falling in love is it's always a good thing to fall in love with somebody who's in love with you. And then make it permanent. You know, I know y’ eh you know sometimes you have trouble with falling in love with the right girlfriend or, and I mean it's hard enough picking the right parents, and. The thing you must do is try very hard to love the person you love. To receive their love. Not to eh let it slip away, not to break it. So eh if you’re seventeen years old and you're walking around waiting to fall in love. You gotta watch what you're doing. Like to sing a song for you about teenage or marital love [Spoken]
La la
La la la la la la
Oh why can't you behave
Why can't you be good
You don't even try
To do the things you should
Well what is the reason
I'd like to know
Why you can't be good
You go into the bedroom
You say you got to powder your nose
But the powder is cocaine
I see traces on your clothes
Well what is the reason
I'd like to know
Why you can't be good
Take another look inside your dreams tonight
When you go to sleep
Try and find the reasons why you've lost your way
Like some little sheep
You say that you love me
You say your love is true
But you’ve got so many other lovers
Well what am I s’posed to do
Well what is the reason
I’d like to know
Why can't you be good
Just be good baby, just be good
Just try you know, just try to be good
You don't have to be perfect
Just, just be good
Sometimes I stay around all night waiting for you to come back
You don't come back, you don't come back
You come home late yeah the next day yeah
Why can't you be good
It gets a little bit lonely sometimes, gets a little lonely
It gets a a little bit lonely baby
Woah, waiting for you
Be good, be good, be good

a note from mr god
[Go to Song Page]
Don't be discouraged by what's going on in the world. A lot of these things are illusions. Oh they really happen. They're not important. They don't destroy the life force. Only God gives life and only God sustains it and only God takes it away. And what you should be worrying about is not where the bomb’s going to go off near you, but where you’re going to go after the bomb goes off. If you're not a christian, look around you. If there is a God there, you'll see him, won't you? An' if you're already a christian, you know what I'm talking about. Mr Piano [Spoken]
I was so down
My chin on the ground
Wondering what to do
Then suddenly I was surprised from out of the blue
The birds sang their song as I walked along
I suddenly felt quite odd
‘Cause out of the sky fell a note from Mr God
And it said
You got the blues but you can shake it
If you have faith you can make it
You have a chance
You must take it while you can
You have a choice but you must choose it
Don't give up hope
Never lose it
And that's what it said on the note from Mr God
Oh
I like it [Spoken, faintly]
God [Faintly]
And it said
You have the blues but you can shake it
If you have faith you can make it
You have a chance
You must take it while you can
You have a choice but you must choose it
Don't give up hope

If you're a christian, I'm glad you're having fun. Life should be a lot of fun. When you face up to the responsibilities that God gives us to love one another and sacrifice when things aren't going the way we want them to. But life still should be fun. If you're not a christian. I'm not a preacher, I can't express all this. I just know that I asked Jesus to come into my life and somehow he did. And everything has been different during my life than it could have been. That's the reason I wanted to come over to England, it wasn't just to hurt my back, you know. I wanted to help break the devil's back. If you want to meet God tonight, it could be arranged. Just ask Jesus [Spoken]
Put your life in Jesus' nail scarred hands
An' put your life in Jesus' nail scarred hands
He's the rock of ages
He's the sage of sages
He's the key to the promised land
Put your life in Jesus' nail scarred hand
Well I was blind but now I've learned to see
I was trapped but now I've been set free
I was lost and alone, so far from home
I was losing sight of me
But now I'm warm and safe as I can be
Just put your life
You only got one, you might as well put it in his hands
Jesus is the rock, he rolled my blues away
I wanna play in his heavenly band
Put your life in Jesus' nail scarred hand
Just put your life
Put it, put it, put it right, right into his hand
Lean on the staff, stand on the rock
Put your life

I don't like performing very much. I like being alive. I like being a christian. I like talking to people about Jesus. I don't much like some of the other things that I do. You probably don't like some of the things you do. Eh sometimes it's hard to witness. You, you gotta talk to somebody that may not understand what you’re saying. Maybe i’ if you're not a christian, maybe you've talked to some of these people that come up and they go eh erm, God loves you man, ah. They just love you. They want to share that with you. God has changed their life. Jesus lives in the centre of their life and they just want you to know that it's possible. They're not trying to bum you out. They not trying to be strange. They're just trying to tell you that God loves you. That Jesus has come and that he's coming back again. That's all [Spoken]
Life was filled with guns and war
Everyone got trampled on the floor
I wish we'd all been ready
Children died, the days grew cold
A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold
I wish we'd all been ready
There's no time to change your mind
The son has come and you've been left behind
A man and wife asleep in bed
She hears a noise and turns her head, he's gone
I wish we'd all been ready
And two friends walking up a hill
One disappeared and one's left standing still
I hope we'll all be ready
There'll be no time to change your mind
When the son returns, don't be left behind
Life is filled with bombs and guns
Heaven help the little ones
I hope you'll all be ready
Children die, the days grow cold
A piece of
Gold, that's all people, oil, gold
There'll be no time to change your mind
There'll be no excuse for being blind
And the father will speak
The angels will come from high
The chariot will come down
Don't be left behind [x4]
No
Don't be left behind
Don't be left, don't be left

everybody work
[Go to Song Page]
You know the flesh will make you twist and shout
So with fear and trembling work your salvation out
Everybody work
Everybody work
There are ten commandments, now get this straight
If you keep the first two you'll fulfil the other eight
Everybody work
Everybody work
There's tension between the brothers and the sisters
People need to get along
Open up your hearts to one another
And learn to sing this song
Holy spirit will touch your soul
Stand still, don't rock and roll
Everybody work
Everybody work work work work
If your woman walks out, starts messing about
You must pray for her safety, 'til she works it out
Obedience is better than sacrifice
If you don't die once then you're gonna die twice
Holy spirit make you move about
So with fear and trembling work your salvation out
Everybody work work
Yeah everybody work work work work
(Work work) The spirit is willing
(Work work) But the flesh is weak
And if you're holding (work work) back
It's hard to hear (work work) God speak
Everybody work work work work

stop this flight
[Go to Song Page]
Sixteen hours to London
You know I'm flying on a DC-10
I wonder if when that plane sets down
I'll ever be able to walk again
I spent thirty five days in Europe
Singing 'til my voice is gone
You know there's never time enough to get a good night's sleep
What is this road that I keep running on
I've got to stop this flight
I've got to get back to earth
Hey, I'm a human being
God knows what that's worth
I'm not meant to be trapped on some smoky stage
And end up lonely in my old age
I've got to stop
People try to twist your message
Reporters try to twist your mind
And I just can't wait 'til I can get back home
I really miss that girl of mine
She's the only one I really (can) talk to
She's where my heart begins and ends
It ain't no lust or money relationship, uh uh
We were teenage buddies, childhood friend
I got to stop this flight
Yeah hey I got to get back to earth
Hey, I'm a human being
Only God knows what that's worth
Yeah
I could be dancing like some mover on a empty stage
But I'll be risen from this prison at the end of the age
Woo yeah
Hey
I'm always locked up in the studio
Hey, this ain't no way to live
You know they never like my records 'til the albums sell
They always want more than I can possibly give
I keep struggling for inspiration (Ha ha hu [Under breath])
Hoping that the songs don't flop
And I keep waiting like a beggar for the option to drop
You've got to live up to the contract 'til they tell you to stop
You've got to stop this flight
That's right, get back to earth
Hey, we are human beings
Only God knows what that's worth
Yeah yeah yeah
We're not meant to be trapped in this fleshly cage
And end up screaming like a demon at the end of the age yeah
You've got to stop your flight
You know what I'm talking about
You've got to stop this flight
Stop running around
(Stop this flight) And get your feet on the ground
(Stop this flight) You've got to stop it, stop it, stop it
(Stop this flight) You know who you are
You know what you're supposed to do
(Stop this flight) You've got to stop this flight
You've got to (Stop this flight)

There are two variants of this album on vinyl. The initial issue (above) failed to list I Wish We'd All Been Ready on either the disc label or the sleeve. The second issue (below) addressed this error. The label font is slightly different too. Strangely, both versions failed to list Leaving The Past Behind. Some copies came with a double sided insert

A few copies had rear inlay artwork with a typing error, "SOP THIS FLIGHT". This was actually my fault! I was assembling numerous CDs for the 2007 concert in Portland, and had collected this artwork from the office printer rather than waiting for Jason Carter to deliver it to me. He had obviously noticed and corrected his error, but forgot to check whether the erroneous prints had been used. The error was only discovered when fan Myron Berg (sadly since deceased) noticed whilst browsing the sales table
