This CD contains many songs Larry performed on his European 2001 tour. Five (5) of these songs have never been recorded by Larry in the studio before. Because he had a sense that this would be his last tour to Europe, and because his sisters and Michael were also on the tour, night after night Larry went out of his way to try to make each concert as different as possible, digging into his song bag for his rarest compositions and a lot of unreleased music
The above is how Solid Rock described this title upon release, which is a 'solo with guitar' focussed compilation from the UK tour in 2001. Several new CD releases coincided with the 'Tourniquet' tour, including the official versions of Tourniquet and Rough Diamonds, Precious Jewels.

Introduction a la compere
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Room3 at the festival. Please welcome mister Larry Norman [Spoken]
i dance before the throne
[Go to Song Page]
Some people like to rock, some people like to roll
Moving and a grooving really satisfies your soul
Let's have a party, let's have a part'
You know that song anybody? Yeah. 'Kay so anyway I didn't know anything about plagiarism at that time in my life. But I thought he, well this is the perfect example of how they've got it wrong. Eh I'm gonna put this in a biblical perspective here, so I wrote this song [Spoken]
My feet are on the rock, my name is on the roll
And moving and a grooving, it don't satisfy your soul
So when I’m down I go off on my own
And when I feel the need I dance before the throne
The people at my church, my friends down at the school
They think that I am strange, they probably think that I’m a fool
But when I [coughs] believe God rolled away that stone yeh-yeh-ye-eh
So when I feel the need I dance before the throne
Take it easy, nice and slow
Feel his presence, don’t you know
If he says follow, I will go
I feel like dancing, ‘cause he saved my soul
Goliath had a sword, David had a stone
I have got the Lord so I am not alone
If you knock me down
Brothers I will not fight you back
'Cause God loves all his children
Red, white, yellow, brown and black
My feet are on the rock, my name is on the roll
Moving and a grooving it will never really satisfy your soul
If your down just go into your room
Go off all alone
Yeah eh-hoo-oo-hoo
If you feel the need
J' just dance before the throne
[Chuckles and clears throat]

walking backwards down the stairs
[Go to Song Page]
Here's a song I wrote when I was a wee lad. I'd just got into what we call high school. I, I was fifteen I, I think it was an', and eh high school was just so different from other schools that I'd been in. You didn't get to use colour crayons anymore. But this song is about the struggle that I was feeling in, in my life [Spoken]
Walking backwards down the stairs
Trying to get higher
How can I get anywhere
Walking backwards down the stairs
Watching life elude me
Slipping through my grasp
Oh I know the truth at last
But to reach the top I've got to stop from
Walking backwards down the stairs
Trying to get higher
How can I get anywhere
Walking backwards down the stairs
People stop to watch me
Wonder what I'm doing
What direction I'm pursuing
But, I pretend I'm free but actually I'm
Walking backwards down the stairs
Trying to get higher, higher
How can I get anywhere
Walking backwards down the stairs
Down the stairs
Down the stairs
[Clears throat]

And here's another song I wrote about the same time [Spoken]
I had a little dog and I named him
Marvin David Walter Lincoln Jones [x2]
He was a pedigree terrier
Couldn't been hairier
If he'd been a sheepdog
A shaggly scraggly sheepdog
One day he won a prize at the county fair
For the littlest dog with the very most hair
Bow pow

i don't believe in miracles
[Go to Song Page]
I don't believe in miracles
I know what's real, I don't pretend
I don't believe in miracles
Or stories with a happy end
Life is no one's friend
But when we met I felt so free
And suddenly I felt a change come over me
Do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
I don't believe in miracles
I've been around, I've seen enough
The only way to get along you must be strong
You must be tough
Life is one big bluff
But then you opened up the door
I walk right in and all my fears fell on the floor
Do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
I don't believe in miracles
I know what's real, I don't pretend, oh no
I don't believe in miracles
Or stories with a happy end
Life is no one's friend
But then we met and suddenly
I felt so strange
I felt a change come over me
Do you suppose a
I don't believe in miracle
I've been around, I've seen enough
The only way to get along you must stay strong
You must be tough
Life is one big bluff
But then we met an' I felt so free
And suddenly I felt this change come over me

she had me by the hair
[Go to Song Page]
Well she weighed two seventeen
You know what I mean
And the way she looked was way beyond repair
I would have danced with another
But she had me by the hair
Well she looked at me
And I, I could see
That before too long I didn't have a prayer
I would have danced with my mother or my brother
But she had me by the hair
Well my head went boom
When we crossed the room
'Cause the hair she held was mine, hee
Oh we danced through the night
And she bear hugged me tight
And before too long I had to have some air
I would have danced with another, woo
But she had me by the hair
Well she weighed two seventeen

Come on love [Spoken]
Yesterday
All my troubles seemed so far away
Now I need ??? to stay [Larry misremembers the lyric]
Oh I believe in yesterday
Suddenly
I'm not half the man I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh yesterday came suddenly
Why she had to go
I don't know, she wouldn't say
Wa wa wa wa wa
(I) said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday
Yesterday
Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh I believe in yesterday
Mmm-mm-mm mm-mm-mm-mmm

ed sullivan and the beatles
The Beatles came to America. Their picture was in Life Magazine, all their pictures, and uh, and my sisters and I tried to figure out which one was which, 'cause they all looked exactly the same the first day. Then the second day we started to notice differences. The third day we had the hair figured out. Like John's was the one that flipped up a little bit on the side and George had just slightly longer in the back and, so then we started to figure out, you know
Well then they came on Ed Sullivan. And, and uh, in my family we weren't allowed to watch TV except one show a week. And uh, we each got to pick our show. And uh, so sometimes, like I, I would pick Superman, you know it, it was a half an hour long. And um, well some, as time went by we began to pick shows that we didn't even like 'cause they were an hour long. And then we heard the Beatles were going to be on a TV show called Ed Sullivan. Now my father kind of liked to watch Ed Sullivan because they had things on it that he liked, like opera and, and jugglers. So we heard that the Beatles were going to be on this Ed Sullivan show. We didn't like Ed Sullivan particularly, I mean he was a very wooden person, you know he was, alright now, tonight on our show, we have the fabulous Lennon sisters. Thank you, you know and it would be some act we didn't like either. So we avoided it. But this week we kind of primed our father by saying early, you know we should check out Ed Sullivan and see what's on this week
An' he's like really glad that we wanted to see one of his shows. So, he made sure that, that we finished dinner in time and we were gonna have a family event and all really enjoy it and, you know, 'cause 'n', people don't always do things as a family. Well, Ed Sullivan said, and now tonight on our show we have the Beatles, the fabolous. He couldn't even enunciate words. Fabolous, you know, it was almost like listening to a person from Liverpool speak, you know? So the [Crowd boos]. Oh that's right, we're in Liver. Nn
So uh, the Beatles came on and, and my dad got so upset. We had ruined his evening with the family. Now he had never heard the Beatles, but he knew he didn't like them. Because he didn't like the way they looked. You know they, they wore suits and they bowed afterwards and that was just the way ruffians are

wouldn't it be loverly

All I want is a room somewhere
Far away from the cold night air
With one enormous chair
Oh wouldn't that be loverly
Lots of chocolate for me to eat
Lots of coal making lots of 'eat
Warm face, warm 'ands, warm feet
Oh wouldn't it be loverly
Oh so lovely sitting abso-bloomin-lutely still
I would never budge till spring
Crept over me window sill
Someone's 'ead resting on me knee
Warm and tender as he can be
Who take good care of me
Oh wouldn't it be loverly
Loverly, lov(erly
Loverly, loverly)
Please audience, can I 'ave some more [Spoken]

blue shoes white
[Go to Song Page]
I had the rhythm of living in my shoe
Along came the rhythm and blues
The blues caught up, put me in a trance
And my shoes refused to dance, dance, dance, dance, wo oh oh oh
My life began to slip and slide
I had no hope, no place to hide
So I borrowed a gun, I had nothing to lose
I figured it's time to hang up my shoes
Well you came along that very day
You asked me why I walk this way
My sole was half torn, my tongue hung about
And with broken laces I'm-a tripping out, out, out, out, ye-eh-eh
You said to me, get up and walk
And I said why don't we sit down and talk
You said how 'bout a new soul
I said no chance, I'm gonna put these shoes in an ambulance
A- be-u-bap, be-u-ba
He reached right out and touched my toes
Everybody knows how the rest of the story goes
If you're scuffing through life then my appeal
Is to follow in his footsteps and get your soles reheeled
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
If you wanna give your feet a treat
Get ready to walk down that golden street
But be careful how you use your shoes
Don't waste your time on the rhythm and blues
Peow peow peow peow peow
He turns blue shoes white
He turn blue shoes white
That's right
He'll make your wrong feet walk right
He'll make your black soul white
He turns blue shoes white
Wa la da da-dap dap dap

I'll sing a love song, 'cause I'm in a pub. Isn't that what they usually wanna hear, love songs? Yeah okay. What are some love songs? [Spoken]
Pardon me
Kissing you like I'm afraid
But I know I'm being played with
And you'll leave me when you get the chance
Off you'll go
In the darkness of the night
Like a bird in freedom's flight
You're thinking only of deliverance
[Imitates trumpet solo]
Close your eyes
And pretend that you are me
See how empty it can be
Making love if love's not really there
Watch me go
Watch me walk away alone
As your clothing comes undone
And you pull the ribbons from your hair
Pardon me
Pardon me
Pardon me

half day in carshalton
When I first came to England I arrived at Carshalton, Surrey to my new flat. I'd just flown in from America and I unpacked my bags and then I went out to get something to eat, and the whole town was deserted. There was nobody there. I thought, well maybe that's why the rent is so cheap. An', and then I saw an older woman walking toward me and it took, took her a long time to get up to where I was and, and I said, excuse me, I'm looking for some place to eat. And she said, oh no love, there's no food in this town today. It's half day.
Ehhhh, it's already over? I didn't know what she meant. And she said, well there is a pub up there, around the c', corner about a, a mile. And so I, I went up there and sure enough I found this pub. I go in and there's a bartender, eh you know behind the, the wood thing. And, and there's uh one man drinking, and I thought, okay, well that's how they stay in business, somebody's gotta drink. And it's just one guy, but apparently it's real expensive beer, you know
Anyway, so I went in and I was looking around, and there's a uh, a chalkboard with some uh, things written down, and I'm, shepherd's pie. I know they're good with sheep but how are they with cooking, you know. Bangers. Don't want any of that kinda, kinda. Do you have a cheese sandwich and a glass of milk? Wot? A cheese sandwich and a glass of milk? Wot 'e say? Wot you say? I'd like a cheese sandwich and a glass of milk. Well why didn't you say so?
So that's the effect I'm, I'm feeling now tonight when I ask you what songs I should play. I don't know what you're saying, so. Could you just say it in English? Su-mu-ru-uh Okay I recognize that. Yes, I see that hand. Anything else? Moses, okay. Okay, that's four I know. Five, okay, yeah okay thanks. Oh, yeah. Are you translating for what she just asked?
Thank you

[Go to Song Page]
When I was a little boy
In a all black neighbourhood
Well it was rough and tumble in a concrete jungle
Hard to do the things you should
I tried to walk the straight and narrow
I kept looking higher
Because Jesus, he set my soul on fire
And when I was a young man
Temptation was all around
Now when the darkness finds you, it slips up behind you
And tries to knock you to the ground
But if you just keep on walking
That's why I was so inspired
Because Jesus, he set my soul on fire
One day a light from above shone down on my face
Lifted me up to a heavenly place
I heard voices and angels on a distant shore
Jesus healed me
Brought me back to life once more
And now I am a grown man
With a vision locked inside my heart
And I speak to men of their pride and sin
And the need to be set apart
And I can run like a lion
I do not tire
Because Jesus
Set my soul on fire
He set my soul on fire
He set my soul on fire
Soul on fire [x2]

sitting in my kitchen
[Go to Song Page]
I was sitting in my kitchen
Thinking about my life
How some men end up all alone
Some men take a wife
How old men can get discouraged
And young men can go astray
And for every single sin we do
Somehow we will pay
I got up to get my bible
Some pages fell onto the floor
It’s an old one that my father had
And his father before
It’s been with me since my childhood
I got it back in '52
When I look back at my troubled life
I give thanks I made it through
Well I am free, I can see
And I’m who I want to be
Mercy me, mercy me, mercy me
Well I grew up in San Francisco
In a real rough neighbourhood
Where they, they beat you bad if you were tough
And worse if you were good
But I came through those times
With a lot of love for those boys who knocked me down
And I pray some day I’ll see them
And we’ll be standing on sacred ground
I am free, I am free
And I'm who I want to be
Mercy me, mercy me, mercy me
I am free and I can see
That I'm who I want to be
Mercy me, mercy me, mercy me
I was sitting in my kitchen
Thinking about my life

It’s been with me since my childhood
I got it back in '52
When I look back at my troubled life
I give thanks I made it through
Well I am free, I can see
And I’m who I want to be
Mercy me, mercy me, mercy me
Well I grew up in San Francisco
In a real rough neighbourhood
Where they, they beat you bad if you were tough
And worse if you were good
But I came through those times
With a lot of love for those boys who knocked me down
And I pray some day I’ll see them
And we’ll be standing on sacred ground
I am free, I am free
And I'm who I want to be
Mercy me, mercy me, mercy me
I am free and I can see
That I'm who I want to be
Mercy me, mercy me, mercy me
you can save me

You can save me
This is a guy calling out to God, a guy asking for salvation you know. But he doesn't know how to pray so [Spoken]
You can save me if you want to
Come and save me ‘cause I want you to
Come inside me, I will let you
Wash away my sin
I sure am glad I met you
God you know I love you
But I've been so bad, God
How can you love me
I can't see you but I know you're there
I can't touch you but I just know you care
God, I love you and I just bought your book
I took it home, I had a real long look
This may not sound nice God
But my favourite part is where you died for me
God, I love you
You have saved my life
I was messed up, I was honky jive
Got your spirit and now I feel so young
You have saved me, even gave me tongues
Jesus, I'm so happy, I just wish that all my friends would let you in
Oh Jesus, I'm so happy, I just wish that all my friends would let you in
You can save me
This is a guy calling out to God, a guy asking for salvation you know. But he doesn't know how to pray so [Spoken]

the first time
[Go to Song Page]
The first time that I went to church was on a Sunday morning
An’ from what I’d heard I figured I’d spend me whole time yawning
At eighteen years of age or so I thought I knew it all
Me hair was long, me jeans were tight, I loved a knife or buckle fight
Providing mates stood left and right and those we fought were small
But me and me mates we’d never been, so off to church we filed
We marched inside ‘bout three abreast, straight down the middle aisle
An' some of us were smoking cigs, Ron was sucking candies
We sat in what they called a pew, and looked around to see just who would come inside
Let me tell you, everyone dressed like dandies
An’ the row behind was full o’ dames, you shoulda seen their looks
And one old dear, she gave me a smile and offered me some books
Ta I said. We opened and passed 'em round, you shoulda seen the words
All set out like poetry is, the words just put us in a tizz
And Fred says through his lemon fizz, these books are for the birds
Shhhhhh tchtchtchtchtch…..one old lady says, and the whole place kind of buzzed
And Sam turns round says, oh do hush up, you make as much noise as us
We looked around the building, it really was quite revealing
Sam says, hey mates, get the score, there ain’t no carpets on the floor
An' see the rafters, they’re so poor they can’t afford a ceiling
Can’t afford electric either, using candles everywhere
Hey, coloured windows like me granny’s, at the bottom of the stairs
You can tell I've seen a lot of British movies and thought this, this was what it was all about, and thought I could even do an accent. Hahahaha
Shut your face I says, Sammy, I’m for listening, so is Ron
Then from the left without a noise, came a line of little boys
And Sam says in a puzzled voice, coo they’ve all got nighties on
Well then came men in robes and banners
Look at that one, must be queer
And they dare condemn us for the way we choose our gear
And then there’s him whose job’s to preach
The minister, you know what’s his name
Those real long prayers and what he preaches, sounded just about the same
I came to church to listen close, but I can’t dig the chat
It’s like eh [mumble] shifting sinking sands
And words like judgement and reprimand
Well me and me mates don’t understand language quite like that
I’m used to talking with me mates with words what have a meaning
But that there church was just about the weirdest place I’ve been in
If people like that kind of stuff, well let them, that’s ok
But let me tell you what I feel
I feel we need someone who’ll deal in words and thoughts
And things what’s real, I’d listen to what he’d say
Me mum once said, son, Jesus came to 'elp young men like you
But Jesus came so long ago mum, I don’t think it’s true
Is there someone here who can explain to me right now
Is Christ a myth, a madman’s whim
Some say that Christ can cure our sin
Is there a way to contact him, or will I die not knowing how
Listen, I only came to church to see if they could offer 'ope
But everything that happened there was just outside my scope
You know like afterwards outside, there was a beggar on the grass
He'd hold his hand out to the people, an' they’d smile and then they’d pass
I’m sure he reached for something real, for something more than cash
He begged them for a little cheer, an’ they all pretended not to hear
But I got the message loud and clear
Church is middle class

a song won't stop the world
[Go to Song Page]
This world's in trouble, you know it’s true
But who has the answers to help us get through
We look to our leaders, they politely yawn
The press gives coverage and the world goes on
This song won't stop the world from going round
And this song can't stop the world from being unsound
But it might change a heart, change a heart or two
No it can't stop the world, but it might stop you
The radio's blasting, wa-wa-wa
The music's loud, be-beoo-ba-bow-pow
A message is given to a face in the crowd, ya-ha
By a prophet of music, a poet of song
The truth is spoken and the world goes on
Alright everybody. Let's divide the room into thirteen parts and sing our little hearts out [Spoken]
A song won't stop the world
Don't even try [Spoken]
From goin’ round
This song can’t stop the world from being unsound
But it might change a heart, ye-eh, change a heart or two-ooh-oh-oh-woh-oh
This song can't stop the world but it might stop you
Ro-hoo wo oh oh neow
This world's in trouble, you know it’s true
But who has the answers to help us get through
We look to our leaders, they politely yawn
The press gives coverage and the world goes on

Okay here's another one. I thought Elvis might wanna sing this one. He sang one of Andrae Crouch's songs [Spoken]
Alright mama [Spoken, imitating Elvis]
You guys can sing this too 'cause it's one of those songs that's so easy to sing, even Elvis coulda learned it you know [Spoken]
You gotta leave it up to God, leave it up to God
Leave it up to God to handle
You got to leave it up to God, leave it up to God
Leave it up to God to handle
Well if your friends, they betray you
And your woman runs away
And if you lose all your money
And you have no place to stay
And if you’re feeling so downhearted
You just can’t face another day
You've got to leave it up to God to handle
Ba ba ba ba
You got to leave it up to God
Your turn [Spoken]
Leave it up to God
Leave it up to God to handle
You got to leave it up to God
Leave it up to God
Leave it up to God to handle
Very enthusiastic [Spoken]
When you’re sick and feeling weary
And you don’t know where to turn
And if life has been so troubled
That it just makes your memory burn yeah
Well if your health keeps getting worse
Then there’s just something you must learn
You must leave it up to God to handle
Ah ha ha ha
You got to leave it up (to God
Leave it up to God)
I bet if he was singing you'd help [Spoken]
(Leave it up to God to handle)
You got to leave it up to God
Leave it up to God
Leave it up to God to handle
So grab a chair and sit beside me
There are a few things that I know
About the Lord and his provision
And how he never lets us go, yeah
Like that chord there, yeah [Spoken]
We’re in his hands and he will help us
So if you’re feeling down and low
You got to leave it up to God to handle
Ba ba ba ba
You got to (leave it up to God)
I'm gonna leave it up to you (Leave it up to God)
(Leave it up to God to handle)
(You got to leave it up to God
Leave it up to God
Leave it up to God to handle)
Okay now, one more thing. I want you to do this one more time, but pretend it's a football song. Ready? [Spoken]
You got to (leave it up to God)
Oih (Leave it up to God)
Yeah (Leave it up to God to handle)
(You got to leave it up to God
Leave it up to God
Leave it up to God to handle)
Thank you very much [Spoken]

messiah
[Go to Song Page]
Well let's sing another song together, this is cool. This is cool. Ah, even though you say heart when, it doesn't fall apart. That's okay, it's alright [Spoken]
Messiah came [Half sung]
Okay. This is gonna be your part for this song. Eh, it's called Messiah and your part goes like this [Spoken]
Messiah, messiah, messiah took this world by force [x2]
Ah force or force or wh', you know [coughs]. Okay, shall we try that? One two three four [Spoken]
Messiah, messiah, messiah took this world by force [x2]
Messiah took this world by force
Messiah took this world by force
I could hear children crying
I could see people dying
I could see cities falling
I could hear the angels calling
Messiah, messiah, messiah took this world by force [x2]
Okay next time I want you to add harmonies of your own devising [Spoken]
Red clouds blotted out the sun
Darkness fell on everyone
Rivers of blood were running
I could see the armies coming
I could see their weapons falling
I could hear the saviour calling
Messiah, messiah, messiah took this world by force
Messiah, (messiah, messiah), he took this world by force
The bear from the north
And the dragon from the east
Marched upon the armies of Israel
And slaughtered them
And on that day
The remnant cried out for Messiah
And Messiah came [Spoken]
Messiah, Messiah, Messiah
Messiah, messiah, messiah took this world by force [x2]
Messiah, messiah, messiah, messiah (messiah), he took this world by (force)

the children of lugoj
[Go to Song Page]
Now here's a song about something really important. This is about the Romanian orphans in Lugoj, and this was the project we put together for them, a four CD boxset of different songs I've sung here in this great city. I love this city. I mean ee, I'm not gonna even tell you why I haven't gone on tour in England for years but why I come here every year and a half or two years. I'm not gonna even tell you 'cause that'd be unkind
But if you care about the Romanian situation and you can spare a few bob or queens, whatever you call your money nowadays. You do still have the queen on it right? Aw-right. I'm sure that pleases her very much. This is what I imagine you would experience if you went over to see the orphans at this orphanage in the city of Lugoj [Spoken]
Down through the fields
Across the river
Up to the door of the house
Where the children live
The light reveals
The lamp light shivers
There stand before
As you reach out your hand to give
The empty faces full of questioning
Your workless fingers full of gesturing
What language can you share
The one of love and care
That's all that's needed there
Your smile dismayed
Your gaze returned
By hopeful eyes
And timid looks, lips moving silently
The past replayed
The houses burned
With no disguise
Betrayal shook each child so violently
You move your fingers slowly at your side
You tell yourself you've got no guilt to hide
You look down at the floor
Your back against the door
Then look at them once more
I don't know if you can remember now we have some of these things on the news all the time, but Ceaucescu who ran this country refused even to supply the money to the hospitals for clean needles. And perhaps that was the least of his visible atrocities. So many children received diseases, many adults did. People died, which was not uncommon in his regime. Children got AIDS. Many parents died, children were not attended, they were left to struggle in the streets and finally when they were taken in it was found that many of them could not even talk, they were so disturbed by all the death they'd seen, lack of food, you know nutrition, lack of sleep, dirty water. Some of them still in the orphanages today struggle learning how to read now even though they're eleven or twelve, thirteen. But they respond to the love that, that's been shown to them by people donating money and the, the love and care they've received from the people that help them do these simple things that other children have mastered in for instance this country [Spoken]
The cold night air
Starts creeping in
You start to speak
Your coat feels warm, with your pockets full
Their legs are bare
Their arms are thin
Their hands are weak
So close to harm that your senses ????
You hold your breath then you let it out
You've got so much that you can live without
They stand there watching you
The time for words is through
'Cause you know what to do

feed the poor
[Go to Song Page]
This song's so complicated I can't even remember it. It's uh, it's on my new album but I can't even play the chords. I, I did it all on, on the, on the piano and eh I wasn't really paying attention when I was doing it. If you hear the song you'll know what I mean, it just kinda goes and builds and builds and I, I, I don't even think I could ever get a band to play it behind me. I hope it's not a hit. I mean the only way it would be a hit is if Cliff sang it. S', so th', th', I don't, I'm not gonna even sing this whole song, I'm gonna sing part of it and then I'll just read you some of the other parts [Spoken]
You gotta feed the poor
They're dying every day
If your momma asks you if you fed the poor
What are you gonna say
You gotta feed the poor
You must obey
If your pappa asks you if you fed the poor
What are you gonna say
There's a little boy lying on the ground
Too weak to lift his head up and too sick to make a sound
There's a little baby girl with her eyes shut tight
Her body burns with fever, there is no food tonight
You gotta feed the poor
You must obey
If the angels ask if you fed the poor
What would you say
You gotta feed the poor
They're dying every day
And when Jesus asks you if you fed the poor
What are you gonna say
[Spoken:]
They're cutting down the rain forest so they can feed the cows
Fast food corporations don't have time for ploughs
The wet lands and the swamp lands are being drained away
The animals and bird life, they have no place to stay
Insidious conglomerates deny that they're involved
Offshore phoney shell fronts think it's hard to solve
With a thousand miles of paper trails winding round and round
While you subpoena affidavits another million trees comes down
Inner city children go to school without a meal
They study this great land of ours, it must seem so unreal
In Haiti and in Africa and in your small town too
There's children starving everywhere and they are watching you
[Sung:]
You gotta feed the poor
You must obey
And if Jesus asks you if you fed the poor
What are you gonna say

[Go to Song Page]
It ain’t no good to lay in bed at night
Worry about the past
About how you might have done things differently
But things just happened way too fast
Go on close your eyes, go to sleep
Let the angels guide your dreams
And let those years unwind behind you
And float away on silent streams
Yes you must live your life the best you can
Though you sometimes do your worst
And learn to laugh when you fail
It’s not the end of the world
Your life’s a play you can’t rehearse
Don’t make too many plans for tomorrow
You can’t control what lies ahead
You must try to live each moment as it comes instead
There’s no use dreaming of a perfect future
Or regretting a troubled past
It’s only today that counts
Live it like it might be your last
It’s only today that counts
Live it like it might be your last
It never helps to worry
It never hurts to pray
Tomorrow will come soon enough
Try to take care of today
Just relax and trust your life to God
The future is in his hands
Only faith will help you face your life’s demands
There’s no use dreaming of a perfect future
Or regretting a troubled past
It’s only today that counts
Live it like it might be your last
It’s only today that counts
Live it like it might be your last
You're welcome to come in [Spoken]
Live it like it might be your last
Somebody wanna invite them in? [Spoken]
Live it like it might be your last
It ain’t no good to lay in bed at night
Worry about the past
About how you might have done things differently

Note: My copy has a skip near the end of the song Children Of Lugoj. At the moment it is not confirmed whether this is a pressing / duplication error or just a fault with my copy
