Published on Bandcamp on April 8, 2023. Note that I Am Waiting / Day-O is removed due to Bandcamp policy on cover versions. Five tracks that were not included on the CD are added

This was recorded during a 30 day tour of Norway and Sweden in 1991. Larry performs solo with guitar and piano, as well as with a band. Several of these songs were rarely performed live, and this is perhaps the only live recording of Larry to include strings

Twelve good men [band]
[Go to Song Page]
Skjærgårdsgospel, Seaside Records proudly presents Larry Norman live in Norway [Spoken]
You need twelve good men
And I can only find eleven
Yeah
Th'are six young lions
I'm still waiting for number seven
I may be living down here on earth
But I am living for heaven
I got a woman I'm in love with
There's no need to say her name
And no matter what might happen
You know I'm gonna love her just the same
It like meeting an angel from heaven
Love is so hard to explain
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
I've got this black leather jacket
The one I had through all my youth
Yeah yeah yeah
I've got these dark sunglasses
I feel just like William Booth
So don't ask me nothing about nothing
I just might tell you the truth
Yeah-eh-yeah-eh-yeah-eh-eh-eh-ya-wa-wa

six sixty six [solo guitar]
[Go to Song Page]
This is about a man who brings peace to the world, a man who unites the countries and creates unity among the governments [Spoken]
In the midst of the war he offered us peace
He came like a lover from out of the east
With the face of an angel and the heart of a beast
His intentions were six sixty six
He walked up to the temple with gold in his hand
And he bought off the priests and propositioned the land
And the world was his harlot and laid in the sand
While the band played six sixty six
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la
We served at his table and slept on the floor
But he starved us and beat us, and nailed us to the door
Well I'm ready to die, I can't take any more
And I'm sick of his lies and his tricks
You know he told us he loved us, that was a lie
There was blood in his pockets and death in his eye
And my number is up and I'm willing to die
If the band will play six
If the band will play six sixty
If the band will play six sixty six

if i were a singer [solo guitar]
[Go to Song Page]
[Coughs]
If I were a singer I would sing my songs for you
And my pen would write down all the truth you're made of
And the only songs that I would sing would be about your love
Oh oh oh
If I were the blue sky my winds would blow for you
And I'd rain upon the earth with heavy showers
And I would rage with hurricanes to make men cower
Make them look up and watch me 'til that unexpected hour
When you come again from heaven's hidden tower
Oh oh oh
These are troubled days
I want to live my life in a special way
These are troubled days
I want to give my life to you and show the way
If I were a forest, if I only had one tree
I'd still stand above the land and stretch toward heaven
And I'd reach out to all the children of your kingdom
I'd be a shelter in the safety of your mountains
And let them satisfy their thirst from running fountains
Oh oh oh
These are troubled days
And I want to live my life in a special way
These are troubled days
I want to give my life to you and show the way
If I were a singer I would sing my songs for you
And my pen would write down all the things you're made of
And the only songs that I would sing would be about your love
I would sing it 'til the faithless ones believed it
And the children of your wayward church received it
I would sing it to the governments and leaders
And to the writers who have misled all the readers
I would sing it though they jailed me and they killed me
Let them empty me of life, for you have filled me
You have filled me
[Coughs]

a note from mr god [solo piano]
[Go to Song Page]
I was so down
Just hanging around
Wondering what to do
When suddenly I was surprised from out of the blue
The birds sang their song while I walked along
I suddenly felt quite odd
‘Cause out of the sky fell a note from Mr God
And it said
You got the blues but you can shake it
If you have faith you can make it
You have a chance
You must take it while you can
Don't give up hope
Never lose it
You got a choice but you must a-choose it
And that's what it said on this note from Mr God
Well, this man was walking down the street and he saw a piece of paper on the ground and he picked it up and he read it and he thought it was a note a-from God. And it wasn't, but he thought it was. And he had had a little bit too much to drink, for about twenty years. And this piece of paper had fallen out of someones bible on their way to church and he just uh found it laying there, and picked it up and he read it and he understood it. And then you know how sometimes you, you read something you think hey this is me, this is exactly what I'm like. Well he thought that, he thought who could possibly know what I'm like except maybe for, for God. And he thought that this was a note from God. And he decided to tell his friends about it because that's what happens when you understand something and you believe it, you wanna share it. And that's what he did, he says eh [Spoken]
You got the blues but you can shake it brothers
That's right, if you have faith you know you gonna make it
Uh-ha
You got a chance
That's right but you got to take it, take it while you can
Don't give up hope
Never lose it
You got a choice but you must choose it
Well that's what it said on this note from Mr God
So if you feel down
With your chin on the ground brother, you know
And eh suddenly you feel eh odd
Well then just look all around, look down on the ground, you might see some kinda piece of paper floating by, just might be some kinda note from Mr [coughs] God
I was so down

diamonds [solo piano]
[Go to Song Page]
You can take your diamonds and lock them in your room
And you will lose everything you save
You can take your flowers and lay them at his tomb
But I know he rose up from the grave

You can take your diamonds and lock them in your room

one way [solo piano]
[Go to Song Page]
One way, one way to heaven
Hold up high your hand
One way, free and forgiven
You will become children of the lamb
Two roads diverged in the middle of my life
I heard a wise man say
I took the road less traveled by
And that's made the difference every night and every day
And I say one way, one way to heaven
Hold your hands up high
Follow, you know it's free and forgiven
You will be children of the sky
In your youth you mighta known the truth
But then spent many years just going down the wrong track
But now you're older you should be bolder, yeah-eh
I think it's high time you were getting back
Ain't that a fact
There's only one way, one way to heaven
Hold your hand up high
Follow, you know it's free and forgiven
You will be children of the sky
Children of the sky
Wo-oh-oh-oh-ooh-oh-oh-wo-wa-ha
Children of the sky
One way, one way to heaven
Hold up high your hand
One way, free and forgiven
You will become children of the lamb

strong love strange peace [solo piano]
[Go to Song Page]
Backstage, I cross the middle ground
Curtain up, house lights down
I sing these love songs, I try to pass my heart around
And afterwards
Some people say they thought I tried to put them down
They feel so bad
It does not matter what I say
I hope tomorrow they have a better day
They seem so lost
They need release
They need your strong love and your strange peace
Reporters question me, is this a new direction for the young
How lamb like their faces
But how snake like their tongues
They quote me perfectly
They rewrite every word I speak
And go away convinced we're all just Jesus freaks
I feel so good
It does not matter what they say
I hope tomorrow that they have a be', a better day
We're all so lost
We need release
We need your strong love and your strange peace
Please give us your strong love and your strange peace
We need your strong love and your strange peace
Backstage, I cross the middle ground
Curtain up, house lights down

i am a servant [piano and strings]
[Go to Song Page]
I am a servant, I am listening for my name
I sit here waiting, I've been looking at this game
That I've been playing, I've been staying much the same
When you are lonely, you're the only one to blame
I am a servant, I am listening for your call
I've been unfaithful, so I sit here in the hall
How can you use me if I've never given all
How can you use me when you know I'll quickly fall
But you touch my soul, you help me grow
You let me know you love me
I might feel worthless now, but help me make a vow
And humbly bow before thee
Oh please use me, I am lonely
I am a servant, I'm getting ready for my part
There's been a change, a rearrangement in my heart
At last I'm learning there's no returning once I start
To live's a privilege, to love is such an art
But I need your help to start
Oh please purify my heart
I am your servant
I am your servant
I am a servant, I am listening for my name
I sit here waiting, I've been looking at this game
That I've been playing, I've been staying much the same

[Go to Song Page]
Walking backwards down the stairs
Trying to get higher
How can I get anywhere
Walking backwards down the stairs
People stop to watch me
Wonder what I'm doing
What direction I'm pursuing
I pretend I'm free but actually I'm
Walking backwards down the stairs
Trying to get higher
How can I get anywhere
Walking backwards down the stairs
Watching life elude me
Slipping through my grasp
Oh I know the truth at last
But to reach the top I got to stop from
Walking backwards down the stairs
Trying to get higher, higher
How can I get anywhere
Walking backwards down the stairs
Thank you, thank you. 'Kay [Spoken]

why don't you look into jesus [band]
[Go to Song Page]
Sipping whiskey from a paper cup
You drown your sorrows till you can't stand up
Take a look at what you've done to yourself
Why don't ya, you put the bottle back on the shelf
Yellow fingers from your cigarettes
Your hands are shaking while your body sweats
Now why don't you look into Jesus
He's got the answer yeah
Woh
Yeah yeah yeah
A-gonorrhea on Valentine’s day, VD
And you're still looking for the perfect lay
You think that rock and roll will set you free
You'll be deaf before you're thirty three, just like me
You're shooting junk until you're half insane
A broken needle in your purple vein
Now why don't you look into Jesus
He's got the answer
Yeah eh eh
You work all night
Sleep all day
You take your money
Throw it all away
You say you're gonna be a superstar
But you never hung around enough
To find out who you really are
A-think a-back to when you were a child
Your soul was free, your heart ran wild
Each day was different and life was a thrill
You knew tomorrow would be better still
But things have changed, you're much older now
If you're unhappy and you don't know how
Then why don't you look into Jesus
He's got the answer
Yeah yeah yeah
Why don't you look into Jesus
He's got the answer
Yes you know he does
Why don't you look into Jesus
He's got the answer
Why why why oh why don't you look into Jesus
He's got the answer oh oh oh
He's got the, he's got the
He's got the, he's got the
He is the, he is the
You need the, you need the
He's got the answer

i don't believe in miracles [band]
[Go to Song Page]
I don't believe in miracles
I know what's real, I don't pretend
I don't believe in miracles
Or stories with a happy end
Life is no one's friend
But when we met I felt so free
And suddenly I felt a change come over me
Do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
I don't believe in miracles
I've been around, I've seen enough
The only way to get along you must be strong
You must be tough
Life is one big bluff
But then I opened up the door
You walked right in and all my fears fell on the floor
Do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
(Ba [x31]) I don't believe in miracles, I don't believe in miracles (Ba-ah ba)
But when we met I felt so free
I felt so strange
I felt a change come over me
Do you suppose
I don't believe in miracles
I know what's real, I don't pretend
I don't believe in miracles
Or stories with a happy end
'Cause life ain't no one's friend
Oh
Then I opened up the door
You walked right in and all my fears fell on the floor
Do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
Do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
Well do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
I don't believe in miracles

I've been around, I've seen enough
The only way to get along you must be strong
You must be tough
Life is one big bluff
But then I opened up the door
You walked right in and all my fears fell on the floor
Do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
(Ba [x31]) I don't believe in miracles, I don't believe in miracles (Ba-ah ba)
But when we met I felt so free
I felt so strange
I felt a change come over me
Do you suppose
I don't believe in miracles
I know what's real, I don't pretend
I don't believe in miracles
Or stories with a happy end
'Cause life ain't no one's friend
Oh
Then I opened up the door
You walked right in and all my fears fell on the floor
Do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
Do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
Well do you suppose a miracle is happening to me
i wish we'd all been ready [BAND]

Life was filled with guns and war
Everyone got trampled on the floor
I wish we'd all been ready
Children died, the days grew cold
A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold
I wish we'd all been ready
There's no time to change your mind (Oh oh)
The son has come and you've been left behind (Oh oh oh oh)
A man and wife asleep in bed
She hears a noise and turns her head
He's gone
I wish we'd all been ready
Two men walking up a hill
One disappears, one's left standing still
I wish we'd all been ready
There's no time to change your mind (Oh oh)
The son has come and you've been left behind (Oh oh oh oh)
Life is filled with bombs and guns
Heaven help these little ones who die
I wish we'd all been ready
People, gold, oil, guns, wars, death, AIDS, armageddon
I wish we'd all been ready
There's no time to change your mind (Ooh)
How could you have been so blind (Ooh ooh)
The father spoke, the demons dined (Ooh)
The son has come and you've been left behind (Ooh ooh ooh)
You've been left behind yeah
You've been left
You've been left behind yeah
You've been left behind

You've been left behind
Additional tracks added on the Bandcamp release. Note that Sweet Song Of Salvation has a slightly obvious splice point where a damaged section of the source recording had to be removed. Similarly, the introduction to He Really Loves You is removed
Sweet song of salvation [solo guitar]
[Go to Song Page]
When you know a pretty story
You don't let it go unsaid
You tell it to your children
As you tuck them into bed
And when you know a wonderful secret
You tell it to your friends
Tell them that a lifetime filled with Jesus
Is like a street that never ends
You sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let your laughter fill the air
Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And tell the people everywhere
You got to sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
To every man and every nation
Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let the people know that Jesus cares
Ba-bam
Bam ba-dam
Na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na yeah
Ye-eh-yeah
Take a look around you as you sing it
There are people everywhere
And to those who stop to listen
Your sweet song becomes their prayer
So if you know a wonderful secret
Tell it to your friends
Tell them that a lifetime filled with Jesus
Is like a street that never ends
Alright it's your turn, it's your turn, it's your turn, it's your turn

the dog and the flower [dialogue]
Rock and roll didn't come from the devil, it came from the church. And eh Jesus had long hair until the 1960s when they changed the pictures in the children's books in church. Then Jesus had short hair, like a Roman soldier. Jesus had short hair like a caesar instead of, as he did, Jesus had long hair. All the poor did. The poor don't have time to go to the boutique, salon and have their hair cut very nice, because they're so busy trying to earn a living from the ground. God provides the food from the ground, God looks upon the inside of a man. God doesn't look upon the outside and we shouldn't either. Doesn't matter what your hair looks like. Doesn't matter what kind of music you understand, you know
It's very frustrating to me because in the fifties they said if you let young people listen to rock and roll they will carry knives in their pockets, they'll wear black leather jackets, they will comb their hair with grease and ride motorcycles you know. And then the sixties they said you let young people listen to rock music they will eh take drugs and burn down the universities. Then in the seventies they said oh if you let young people listen to modern musicn they, they will do this, like John Travolta. Yeah but then eh you know disco died and then in the eighty they said eh, you, if you play rock and roll music backwards the devil will speak to you, the devil will talk to you
And I didn't know this, you know. This, this boy came on television in eh California, and he was on a TV show and he, he played this Led Zeppelin Stairway To Heaven record backwards. First he played it the proper way and it sounded good like it always does. Then he played it backwards and, and you could clearly hear a voice saying this: [Mimics reversed speech]. I was very frightened. You know scientists, they, they took a dog and strapped him in between two loudspeakers and they put on a rock and roll record and after seven and a half hours the dog went mad. Ah they took a flower and put it next to a loudspeaker and put on a rock and roll record and at the end of the day the flower had moved away from the speaker and, and dropped all of its petals and leaves. You know, I didn't know this until I read this newspaper article. But if it's the truth it's the truth. You know, I, I'm a, I'm a believer in the truth and, and eh, as your older brother I wanna warn you - rock and roll music is dangerous. And you should be very careful to keep your plants and your animals away from your record collection

he really loves you [band]
[Go to Song Page]
He really loves you, yes he really loves you
He really loves you, you know it’s true [x2]
I love you my brother so heed this well
If you wanna go to heaven, well you've got to get past hell
(He really loves you, yes he really loves you) Yeah, yes he really loves you, yeah
(He really loves you, yes he really loves you)
Well think about the day we met, for so long I said that prayer
And then you finally bowed your head, sitting in my kitchen chair
And once you walked where Jesus walked, but now you’ve run away (Ooh ooh, ooh ooh)
(He really loves you, yes he really loves you) Said he loves you
(He really loves you, you know it’s true) Yeah yeah yeah
(He really loves you, heaven high above you)
(He really loves you, you know it’s true)
If you don’t die once you’re gonna die twice
Obedience is better than sacrifice
Yeah (He really loves you, yes he really loves you) Yeah, yes he really loves you
(He really loves you, yes he really loves you)
I had a vision near Otsego Gate
I saw you in Sud San Duphaey, yeah
But unborn children weep and wait
For that resurrection day
The saviour sits in heaven and he’s calling out, he's calling out your name (Ooh ooh, ooh ooh (ah ah))
(He really loves you, yes he really loves you) Loves you yeah, yes he really loves you

When are you gonna make up your mind, when are you gonna love him, love him
Cross that line, ‘cause he crossed that line for you
Cross that line, well if you do the son will shine on you

Messiah took this world by force
Messiah took this world by force
I could hear children crying
I could see people dying
I could see the cities falling
I could hear the angels calling
Messiah, Messiah, Messiah took this world by force [x2]
Red clouds blotted out the sun
Darkness fell on everyone
And rivers of blood were running
I could see the armies coming
I could see their weapons falling
I could hear the saviour calling
Messiah, Messiah, Messiah took this world by force [x2]
The bear from the north
And the dragon from the east
Marched upon the armies of Israel
And slaughtered them
And on that day
The chosen cried out for Messiah
And Messiah came
Messiah, Messiah, Messiah (Messiah, Messiah, Messiah)
(Took this world by force)
Messiah, Messiah, Messiah took this world by force [x2]

A one a two, a one two, no no
One two three, one two three [Spoken]
I was lost and blind then a friend of mine
Came and took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
That was in another land
Now I feel so changed, my life is rearranged
When I think of the past I feel so strange
I wanna, wowie zowie that cat's got soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I was all alone like a rolling stone
I was going nowhere fast
I was on that road so far from home
When the future touched my past
I feel so blessed like, like I knew I would
He make everybody feel so good
Wowie zowie he saved my soul
Like a rock that doesn't roll
Yeah
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body and great for the soul
