He's an unidentified flying object
You will see him in the air
He's an unidentified flying object
You will drop your hands and stare
You will be afraid to tell your neighbours
They might think that it's not true
But when they open up the morning papers
They will know they've seen him too
Oh yeah
He will come back like he promised
With the price already paid
He will gather up his followers
And take us all away
He's an unidentified flying object
He will sweep down from the sky
He's an unidentified flying object
And some will sleep, but will not die
He's an unidentified flying object
Coming back to take you home
He's an unidentified flying object
He will roll away your stone
And if there's life on other planets
I'm sure that he must know
And he's been there once already
And has died to save their souls
He's an unidentified flying object
You will see him in the air
He's an unidentified flying object
You will drop your hands and stare
He's an unidentified flying object

Here's a song John Lennon wrote, and I liked it a lot so I wrote it too. I changed the words and the melody and chords. 'Cause eh John Lennon wrote I don't believe in Beatles, I don't believe in God, I don't believe in Maharishi. I don't believe in, a bunch of stuff he didn't believe in. And at the end of the song he says I believe in me, just Yoko and me. So I thought he called his song God, I, I'm gonna call my song God too and so I call it God Two. And his song was slow [Spoken]
I don't believe in Beatles, I don't believe in rock
I don't believe in
This is not folk music [Spoken]
I don't believe in Beatles, I don't believe in rock
I don't believe in the cutting edge, that's just journalist talk
I don't believe in the cover story or even the gospel charts
'Cause you can easily hit number one with a bullet and totally miss the heart
But I, I, I believe in God
I don't believe in politics while the masses stay unfed
Until the leaders change priorities and supply the poor with bread
I don't believe in revolution or the empty words of peace
'Cause you can tear all of the governments down, you still won't find release
I yes I, I believe in God
Alright, take it boys
Sounds good
I don't believe
In a lot of things
Trying to figure out which verses to drop out, 'cause sometimes I get in trouble depending what part of the country I'm in. I think I'm pretty safe here [Spoken]
I don't believe in Esperanto or the dreams of Babylon
If we all spoke the same language, long ago we might'a built the bomb
I don't believe the Aryan is the master race
And if they think that Jesus was white they'd be surprised to see his face
Yes I, I believe in God
I don't believe in evolution, I was born to be free
Ain't gonna let no paleantologist make a monkey outta me
I don't believe the devil's lies, ain't gonna be his slave
And when I'm finished dying I'm gonna bust out of my grave
I yes I, I believe in God
I believe in God

Here's a song I wrote back in 1972. In the song I say it's 1973, 'cause I didn't want the song to get outdated [Spoken]
Alice Cooper is a drag queen
Bowie somewhere in between
Other bands are looking mean
Me, I'm trying to stay clean
I don't dig the radio
I hate what the charts pick
Rock and roll may not be dead
But it's really sick
All over the world disc jockeys talk the same
Every town I play is like the town from where I came
Except for this town
I always say that
Right now I mean it
Ooh a hot time in the old town tonight [Spoken]
Rolling Stones are millionaires
Flower children pallbearers
Beatles said all you need is love
Then they broke up
I'll never break up
Jimi Hendrix took an overdose
Janis Joplin followed so close
The whole music scene and
All the bands are comatose
This time last year, people didn't wanna hear
They looked at Jesus from afar
Now they call him superstar
Well it's 1973, I wonder who we're gonna see
Who's in power now
Think I'll turn on the TV
The man on the news said
China's gonna beat us
We shot all our dreamers
There's no one left to lead us
We need a solution, some kinda salvation
Let's send people to the moon
And gather information
They brought back a big bag of rocks
Only cost two hundred forty seven billion
Must be nice rocks
Well you think it's such a sad thing
When you see a fallen king
Martin Luther King
Rodney King
Don
You think it's such a sad thing
When you see a fallen king
Then you find out they're only princes to begin with
Everybody's got to choose
Whether they will win or lose
Follow God or sing the blues
And who they're gonna sin with
What a mess the world is in
I wonder who began it
Don't ask me, I'm only visiting this planet
This world is not my home
And this is not rap

Are you having fun here? Yeah me too, man this is, this is nice. Eh, I went to China and eh I got off the airplane and there was a man who greeted me and he stayed with me. And eh, we went to a restaurant, he came to the restaurant. I went in the bathroom, he went in the bathroom. Came back out, sat down, two minutes later went back in the bathroom, just to see what he'd do. You know. I go in there, blow my nose, go back to the restaurant, go in there, wash my hands, go back to the, everywhere I went. So I knew he was a spy. And I had been warned that people would be watching me but I didn't know I'd be able to see 'em
And then one day he didn't come along. He didn't show up that morning and we snuck out of the city, went out into the country and met christians from the underground church. And I found out that in the last year two thousand christians had been arrested, but not imprisoned. Because the fiftieth year anniversary of Mao Zedong's cultural revolution was gonna be celebrated and they didn't wanna draw attention from the world. So they didn't imprison the christians this time, they just, eh took away their money and their cows and their chickens and their pigs. And eh, impoverished them and, you know the kind of problems that happen all around the world. You know like in eh, in, in eh India if you become a christian your Hindu family usually disowns you. And in Russia, eh become a christian you're imprisoned in the past and then China very often executed. And in America you have a wider selection of CDs
And the bible says don't be imitators of the world. But we have an awful lot of t-shirts that copy Pepsi Cola and. I don't wanna say anybody else's brand name. I don't know if, I'm not trying to slander Pepsi, I'm sure it's a fine chemical product. God gave us water but eh, we've altered that with factories and, and eh campsite garbage and, we're just really good to this beautiful world that God gave us. And eh we, we talk about Jesus, we who are christians, and the bible says that the world will know we are christians by our love. But I don't know if we're loving enough yet for them to notice. They believe that we're a hate group. We eh talk very negatively about people's sins. We point fingers at people and eh, we act derisively toward eh homosexuals, we stand outside abortion clinics and scream at the mothers who are going in, calling them murderers. Eh do you think Jesus would stand outside the abortion clinic an', and tell people they're killers and, or do you think he'd go over and talk to 'em?
I know you're behind a barricade but you don't need to scream at somebody who's a few feet away and tell them about Jesus, tell them about love. Have people standing away from the abortion clinic in the parking spaces around the block an', and talk to people. Just make it a whole area where you witness, to everybody, not just to women who might be pregnant. Why aren't we more loving? We go to church and we say we're gonna worship God now, we sing these praise and worship songs like I will bless thee, I will praise thee with my lips. I will lift up my hands, I will, I, I, I, me, me, I, I. And we call that worshipping God
And this is the kinda nation we are. We're, we're going to church and we want God to bless us, which is good. Bless me, touch me, heal me, you know eh-mm-mm-mm give me more income, em, em make me happy. You know we're seeking God's hands but we're not seeking his face. We want God to touch us but we don't want to watch him speak to us and tell us feed the poor. Go into prison, go into hospitals, go into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. We don't wanna do that. We wanna go to a place that's air conditioned and have God bless us. The bible says that if you don't feed and clothe the least among you you do not feed and clothe Christ. And that Jesus is going to ask you apparently only one thing when you stand before him. Did you feed me, did you clothe me? And what will you say? No I, I, I, I needed that money for, for tennis shoes and eh tattoos and a baseball cap, and a MacDonald's. Which is a fine chemical product
So if you love God keep his commandments. Follow Christ in obedience. Do the will of the father. The bible says to love one another and serve one another. Do not ignore the poor around you. I believe Compassion is here today. Go sign up. I think you can squeeze twenty eight bucks a month outta your life

the outlaw
[Go to Song Page]
Some say he was an outlaw
That he roamed across the land
With a band of unschooled ruffians
And a few young fishermen
No one knew just where he came from
Or exactly what he'd done
But they said it might be something bad
That keeps them on the run
Some say he was a poet
That he'd stand upon the hill
And his words could calm an angry crowd
Or make the waves stand still
And he spoke in many parables
That few could understand
The people sat for hours
Just to listen to this man
Some say he was a sorcerer
A man of mystery
He could walk upon the water
He could make a blind man see
And he conjured wine at weddings
And did tricks with fish and bread
He spoke of being born again
He raised people from the dead
Some say he was a radical
He talked of being free
He was followed by the masses
On the shores of Galilee
He spoke out against corruption
And he bowed to no decree
They feared his strength and power
So they nailed him to a tree
Some say he was the son of God
A man above all men
But he came to be a servant
And to set us free from sin
And that's who I believe he is
'Cause that's who I believe
And I think we should be ready
When it's time for us to leave
And I think we should get ready
'Cause it's almost time to leave
Some say he was an outlaw
That he roamed across the land
With a band of unschooled ruffians
And a few young fishermen

why don't you look into jesus
[Go to Song Page]
Uh
Sipping whiskey from a paper cup
You drown your sorrows ‘til you can’t stand up
Take a look at what you’ve done to yourself
Why don’t you put the bottle back on the shelf
Smoking cigs until your life's insane
You've got yellow stains on your fingers baby
I said now why don’t you look into Jesus
He's got the answer
You've got a-gonorrhoea on valentine’s day
You’re still looking for the perfect lay
You think that rock and roll will set you free
You’ll be deaf before you’re thirty three
You're shooting junk ‘til you’re half insane
A broken needle in your purple vein
Well why don’t you look into Jesus
He's got the answer
Sleep all night, work all day
Take your money, throw it all away
You say you’re gonna be a superstar
But you never hung around enough to find out who you really are
Think back to when you were a child
Your soul was free, your heart ran wild
Each day was different, life was a thrill
You knew tomorrow would be better still
But things have changed, you’re much older now
If you’re unhappy and you don’t know how
Why don’t you look into Jesus
He's got the answer
I said now why don’t you look into Jesus
He's got the answer
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Why don’t you look into Jesus

Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Why don’t you look into Jesus

He's got the answer

fly me to the moon
[Go to Song Page]
[Go to Song Page]
I started writing these songs in 1956. My father wasn't very happy about it. He said rock and roll was of the devil. Why didn't I listen to good music, like the stuff he and mom listened to? He said rock and roll was crazy, it was illogical - awopbopalopalopalopabababa - that's how much he knew about it. And he said just listen to quality music. You know songs like, like eh, he listened to was like eh, ah
Fly me to the moon
And let me play among the stars
Let me see what life is like on Jupiter and Mars
In other words hold my hand
And in other words, doobaleeboopoodoo
In other word, reepadooreepa
In other words, bow ba da
I love you
Fly me to the moon, let me play among the stars. Yeah dad, that's logical, you know. I just didn't get it. Why was rock and roll so bad? And eh, and one day he told me 'cause I kept pressuring him, what's wrong with it? He says well it's all about s's's, it's only about s's's, romance. You know. So then I understood what he was saying you know. So I, I liked his kind of music, you know songs like
I'm in the mood for love
Simply because you're near me
Darling but when you're near me
I'm in the mood for love
I'm in the mood for love simply because you're near me. That guy has no self control. Our parents used to listen to that kind of music all the time. No wonder there's so many of us. So ah, when people would say you're, you're eh being used by satan, you're being tricked by the devil, this music is, is evil, I just had to say no, it's, it's, it's black music. You're white, you don't know about black music. I grew up in a black neighbourhood you know, you, you didn't you know, I grew up in a slum man. I didn't know it was a slum 'til we moved to a ghetto. And eh, so this music came from the church, it came from the black church. And eh, there's nothing wrong with it, eh. And so when people put you down when you know what you're doing is trying to follow Christ, if it's wrong God'll show you later. But don't let people tell you, you know the bible says don't be conformed to the world. So don't be conformed to their opinion of your spirituality. But make sure you're reading the bible and praying and following Christ and let the Holy Spirit correct you

shot down
[Go to Song Page]
This song is called Shot Down [Spoken]
I've been shot down, talked about
Some people scandalize my name
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
I've been knocked down, kicked around
But like a moth drawn to the flame
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
I've been rebuked for the things I've said
The songs I've written, the life I've led
Some people don't understand me but I'm not surprised
You can't see nothing when you close your eyes
They say I'm sinful, backslidden
That I have left to follow fame
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Woah
You wanna talk about my life, listen to me
You've got your facts all backwards, one two three
Spreading rumors and gossip is a bad game
The only name to spread is Jesus name
I've been shot down, talked about
Some people scandalize my name yeah
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Yeah
I've been shot down, talked about
Some people scandalize my name
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus brother
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus sister
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Yeah yeah yeah wo-ah-oh-ah wo oh oh oh oh oh
This song is called Shot Down [Spoken]
I've been shot down, talked about
Some people scandalize my name
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
I've been knocked down, kicked around
But like a moth drawn to the flame
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same
I've been rebuked for the things I've said
The songs I've written, the life I've led
Some people don't understand me but I'm not surprised
You can't see nothing when you close your eyes
They say I'm sinful, backslidden
That I have left to follow fame
Here I am, talking 'bout Jesus just the same

the devil's music
You guys wanna sing along? You sound pretty revved up. Uh, I did an album called Only Visiting This Planet, a few years after I did an album for Capitol Records. I signed with Capitol Records in eh '66. We opened for Jimi Hendrix, eh Janis Joplin, the Doors, the Grateful Dead, lot of times, they died over and over again on stage there. And eh. It's just different than it is today you know. 'Cause back then people would really listen with a different heart, they'd go is he talking about God? Why's he talking about God, what is God and rock and roll? How, you can't put that to-ge'. Even they were saying rock and roll is of the devil man, God can't use it. But God can use anything. You know all the poisons in the world, all the heroin and stuff, it's not originally heroin. It's a flower. It's also used for medicine. You have to use things for right purpose. Don't use the poppy for the wrong purpose, don't use rock music, don't use literature, don't use cinema for the wrong purpose. Don't use your life for the wrong purpose. Live your life in Christ in a way that glorifies him, in a way that presents him, in a way that, that is loving and peaceful. The bible says love one another, be kind to one another, confess your sins one to another, and be tender hearted and forgive each other
And eh you know, if somebody says I used to take drugs all the time, you think that's okay, but if they say oh I got a girl pregnant an', and I eh you know, then that's different to the church, it's like well we can't forgive that. 'Cause that's different man I mean that's not just like heroin or murder. You know. But having a child out of wedlock. Has there ever been a child in the, in the scripture that was used by God that when he was born of a, of a, a, an improper situation; yeah. You can't look at a child and say this is an awful sin. No, it's a child of God. Love one another, be kind. Don't be du', judicious. Be forgiving
Um, you ah, you can sing this song, it's called Rock That Doesn't Roll, it's an old song eh. It's on In Another Land, which was part three of the trilogy. And then eh-uh, my record company told me they wanted me to do another album just like it. And I said like part four of the trilogy? Ah, oh, anyway [Spoken]

the rock that doesn't roll
[Go to Song Page]
I was lost and blind then a friend of mine
Came and took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
That was in another land
Now my life is changed, it's rearranged
When I think of my past, feel so strange
Wowie zowie he saved my soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for the body, great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I was all alone like a rolling stone
I was going nowhere fast
I was on that road so far from home baby
When the future touched my past
You know I feel so blessed 'cause he gave me rest
I finally feel like I've passed the test
Wanna be like him, that's my goal
Like the rock that doesn't roll
Come on sing it
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Alright take it boy
Yeah he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body, great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I was lost and blind then a friend of mine
Came and took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
Which was in another land
Now my mind is grown, my mind is blown
A solid rock ain't a rolling stone
Wowie zowie that cat's got soul
He's the rock, doesn't roll

He's the (rock that doesn't roll) ??? the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's good for the body, great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
One more time, come on
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for the body, great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll, roll, roll
You've got to rock me on the water
Rock me from my grave
Rock me till I'm feeling good
Rock me till I'm saved
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
You know he's good for the body, great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I wanna tell you

end of the world
And there was this sign on the street in Hollywood. It said eh, I know I told you that Ronald Reagan was the anti-christ, but I was wrong. And eh I think it might be Bush, but if it's not it's somebody else, and he's gonna show up real soon. And he changed the sign on that street corner all the time to keep the world updated. I think it's peculiar that the bible says when Christ returns no man will know the hour. But that some of the evangelical community believed that they knew the minute and the second. The stroke of midnight, New Year's Eve, the end of the world. Get your book now. Get the video tape now. You can buy food from us. We've opened up a christian food department. You know when the end of the world comes I don't think you're gonna have much time to eat. This song is about this moment in time, which even Christ said he did not know, but that the father knew. Okay boys [Spoken]
six sixty six
[Go to Song Page]
In the midst of the war he offered us peace
He came like a lover from out of the east
With the face of an angel and the heart of a beast
His intentions were six sixty six
He walked up to the temple with gold in his hand
He bought off the priests and propositioned the land
The world was his harlot and laid in the sand
While the band played six sixty six
We served at his table and slept on the floor
He starved us and beat us, he nailed us to the door
Well I'm ready to die, I can't take any more
And I'm sick of his lies and his tricks
He told us he loved us, that was a lie
There was blood in his pockets and death in his eyes
But my number is up and I'm ready to die
If the band will play six sixty six
Ah ah ah yeah
In the midst of the war he offered us peace

The sun has done wonders for the tuning. And the son will do wonders for you [Spoken]
Life is filled with guns and war
Everyone got trampled on the floor
I wish we'd all been ready
Children died, the days grew cold
A piece of bread could buy a bag of gold
I wish we'd all been ready
There's no time to change your mind
The son has come and you've been left behind
A man and wife asleep in bed
She hears a noise and turns her head
He's gone
I wish we'd all been ready
Two men walking up a hill
One disappears, one's left standing still
I wish we'd all been ready
There's no time to change your mind
The son has come and you've been left behind
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la la la la la
Life is filled with bombs and guns
Heaven help these little ones who die
I hope they'll all been ready
Nations, oil, gold, guns, AIDS
I hope you'll all be ready
'Cause there won't be time to change your mind
And no excuse for being blind
The father spoke, the demons dined
The son has come, don't get left behind
Don't get left behind [x3]

growing up
If it's against the law to be a christian, will there be enough evidence to convict you? I'm going home man. Ha ha ha. I wasn't planning on doing anything else but eh, I would, could ask you, is there something you'd like to hear? Moses? Who knows Moses? There's not enough people here that know Mo'. Alright, this is a song I wrote when I was in eh Sunday school. I used to get really confused 'cause I started off with my parents upstairs in church and eh pastor would say stuff like it's a sin to eh drink, you know, and then downstairs in Sunday school they'd say Jesus turned the water into wine. And I would think well he must have changed it back into water 'fore it hit their stomach. Yeah
And upstairs they said that it was a sin to go to the movies. And I thought that's why they called it cinema, so you'd know. And it was a sin to dance, it was a big sin to dance. But in Sunday school they told us that David danced before God. And it wasn't until years later I realised that for some people dancing is like a vertical expression of a horizontal desire. But you can dance 'fore God. It depends what's in your heart with, with anything you do. I don't know that you can eh be an alcoholic if you make sure it's right in your heart, you know. I'm not sure what God thinks about so much of this tattoos. Eh the Jews believed that that part of your body would never be redeemed. Eh that that, I don't know you'd have just a patch missing when you went to heaven. You know. I guess they can take out all the metal in your head an', em, bible says don't conform to the world. I don't know what we're doing sometimes
Eh I saw an ad on television about some, I don't know, TimeLife. And they're a fine chemical product too. Time, TimeLife has a christian box o' or secular box of christian music. A cardboard box of metal discs and eh, and somebody was saying we want the world to know we're just as good as them, this music it, it can compete with them, we're just as good. And I thought no no no no. We shouldn't be competing with them. We should be going in a different direction. It takes courage to do that you know
You gotta witness to people, I, I can't emphasise it enough. Aren't you glad somebody told you? Were you going to figure it out all by yourself? Some brave person told some of you people. I remember once I played in The Bitter End in New York for a whole week, two shows a night. In between the first show and the second show this guy came up, he was all burned and he goes can I talk to you? His, his jaw was welded to his chest, and he said he'd been eh in two pile ups in a car 'cause he was doing drugs in the car and the car caught on fire and he got burned. And eh, and eh, so I talked to him and eh he finally, I said you wanna pray. This was like a half an hour later, he said okay. And I said well do you know how to pray? No. Well just repeat after me then eh, here I'll hold you hand, dear God. Dear God. Please forgive me for my sins. Please forgive me for my sins. You gotta f-ing help me God 'cause I'm all f-ed up. And I was so shocked, and I was like can he say that?
You've gotta talk to people. Don't afraid of rejection. There's hungry people in the world. Some of 'em are unwed mothers, some of 'em are homosexual, some of 'em are baptists. Some of them are, there's hungry people, it might be your mom and dad. Hide your light under a bushel. No. Let it shine, let it shine. Okay I'm gonna end this set with a very bad song. I wrote this in eh, you know when I was a kid an'. Eh, is this on now? Okay

[Go to Song Page]
Moses tending sheep in the fields one day
Thought he heard a burning scrub-brush say
Go and free your people
From the Pharaoh's hand
Go and take them all to the promised land
Go', Moses knew that God was talking to him
So he set off to Egypt with a vigor and vim
And Moses bugged the Pharaoh, he bugged him
And he bugged him
'Till he got his people free
He used real bugs
Ow ow ow ow yes indeed
Ow ow he got his people freed
Ow ow ow ow
Ow ow ow ow
Moses on the banks of the wide Red Sea
Stuck out his stick, one two three
The water rolled back
And the people walked down
Everybody knew that they wouldn't drown
Pharaoh told his army, bring 'em all back
Here come the chariots, clickety clack
Moses took his stick
And he closed up the water
And the 'Gyptians all took a bath
Ow ow ow ow
What a laugh
Ow ow they all took a bath
Ow ow ow ow
Dirty 'Gyptians
Ow ow ow ow
Grab my foot, take my hand
Lead me on to the promised land
Milk and honey, milk and honey
Milk and honey, milk and honey
Me and all your people are here
So keep on sending manna
From the atmosphere
I knew from church upstairs that if you sang a song about God you had to have big words in it like you know atmosphere and, so eh. And I always thought the choir would wanna sing this but they never did, uh. So I thought it would sound like this [Spoken]
Milk and honey, milk and honey
Milk and hon', milk and hon'
Oooh
After forty long years in the wilderness
They finally saw their potential metropolis
They all gave thanks
And they all praised the Lord
Even though it took time he kept his word
He grab-bed their foot and he took-eth their hand
And he brought-eth them over
To the promised land
But it seems to me like an awful long time to be
Looking for a home
Ow ow ow ow
A mighty long roam
Ow ow ow
Looking for a home
Ow ow ow
Never borrow money needlessly, borrow from HFC
Thank you [Spoken]

(Thank you). Larry Norman and band. Fantastic. I just wanna share one thing I don't, I don't think Larry can hear this, but at Creation East um, there was a young lady who was rushed to the hospital and did not get to see any of the festival and had an emergency operation. And I learned that after the festival that Larry found out what hospital she was in, went over and gave her a personal concert. And I tell ya, that's the kinda guy he is. And we love him [Spoken]
