heaven wants to bless you
[Go to Song Page]
[Introduction, in Dutch]
Your father always loved you, your mother never did
Unless it was in her own way which was to keep it totally hid
Hard looks and criticisms locked you in a rusted cage
And when you'd talk of your escape she'd fly into a rage
I think you need to see yourself as all the angels do
God is counting your sweet tears and heaven wants to bless you
Your sisters they tormented you for being a golden child
With your shining hair like a waterfall and your blue eyes unbeguiled
They despised you when you looked at them, you saw right through their lies
So they dazzled you in irony that was hard to recognise
You need to stand against the hate like all the angels do
And God is whispering right now, heaven wants to bless you
Oh they have a gift for cruelty and hate your innocence
But truth will knock upon your door and rise to your defence
Nobody has a reason to treat you in this way
But time will change the season and love will come to stay
The boys all want to own you so they can possess your light
And turn your beauty inside out and smother you with night
And take away your confidence and tell you that you're mad
And make you be a servant girl who's lost all that she had
I think you need to see yourself as all the angels do
God is counting your sweet tears and heaven wants to bless you
I think you need to love yourself like all the angels do
God is reaching out tonight, heaven wants to bless you

I don't believe in Beatles, I don't believe in rock
I don't believe in the cutting edge, that's just journalist talk
I don't believe in the cover story or the gospel charts
'Cos you can easily hit number one with a bullet and totally miss the heart
But I, I, I believe in God
I don't believe in politics while the masses stay unfed
Till the leaders change priorities and supply the poor with bread
I don't believe in the revolution or the empty words of peace
You can tear all of the governments down and you still won't find release
But I, oh I, I believe in God
I don't believe the papacy when fallible lies are told
If they really want to help the poor they should sell some of their gold
And I don't believe the Aryans are the master race
And if they think that Jesus is white they'd be surprised to see his face
But I, oh I, I believe in God
Yeah
I don't believe in Esperanto or the dreams of Babylon
If we all spoke the same language, long ago we would'a built the bomb
I don't believe in money the way lives are bought and sold
And when the world is ended bankrupt, we're gonna walk on streets of gold
No I don't believe in evolution, I was born to be free
Ain't gonna let no paleantologist make a monkey outta me
And I don't believe the devil, ain't gonna be his slave
And when I'm finished dying I'm gonna bust out of my grave
Because I, yeah
I and I, yeah
Yes I, woh I believe in God
I believe in God

six sixty six
[Go to Song Page]
In the midst of the war he offered us peace
He came like a lover from out of the east
With the face of an angel and the heart of a beast
His intentions were six sixty six
He walked up to the temple with gold in his hand
He bought off the priests and propositioned the land
The world was his harlot and laid in the sand
While the band played six sixty six
We served at his table and slept on the floor
But he starved us and beat us and nailed us to the door
Well my number is up, I can't take any more
And I'm sick of his lies and his tricks
He told us he loved us but that was a lie
There was blood in his pockets and death in his eye
Well my number is up and I'm ready to die
If the band will play six
If the band will play six sixty
If the band will play six sixty six
Ah yeah
Eh, I started singing a long time ago and people said I wasn't a christian because my music was wrong, and eh, some people said that I took drugs, and eh that I'd slept around with every girl an' an' eh they said a lot of things and I was very upset to hear about this. So I asked other people and eh, I found out it wasn't true. And the bible says when people talk about you because you're a christian and you're doing what God is telling you to do, when people attack you, when people hate you, revile you, disrespect you, it doesn't matter. You know what you're doing. You know who you're following, and you know where he's leading you. [Spoken]

shot down
[Go to Song Page]
I've been shot down, talked about
Some people scandalize my name
But here I am talking 'bout Jesus just the same
I've been knocked down, kicked around
But like a moth drawn to the flame
Here I am talking 'bout Jesus just the same
I've been rebuked for the things I've said
For the songs I've written and the life I've led
They say they don't understand me but I'm not surprised
You can't see nothing when you close your eyes
They say I'm sinful, backslidden
That I have left to follow fame
But here I am talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Yeah
You wanna talk about my life, well listen to me
You got your facts all backwards, one two three
Spreading rumors and gossip is a bad game
The only name to spread is Jesus name
I've been knocked down, kicked around
But like a moth drawn to the flame
Here I am talking 'bout Jesus brother
Here I am talking 'bout Jesus sister
Here I am talking 'bout Jesus just the same
Yeah ye-ah
Yea-alright yeah
I've been shot down, talked about

let the rain fall down
[Go to Song Page]
My woman left me, she left me for another man
You know it came as some surprise, it wasn't in my plan
She never told me nothing was wrong, she never gave me a clue
One morning there was a knock on the door, and I found out we were through
And as I stood there with the papers in my hand
I found myself transported into this distant land
Heavenly father
Thou who all doth see
You let the rain fall on the good and the bad
So let the rain fall down on me
As through this life you ramble, as through this world you roam
You might live in a lot of houses and never find a home
As down the road you wander, and through broken fields you cross
You must never stop believing for all is not lost
And don't you worry 'bout the unfaithful lover and false friend
For the love that you have given them, that's what matters in the end
Dearest father
Help me thine to be
You let the rain fall on the quick and the dead
So let the rain fall down on me
Life is complicated, it's very hard to live
I gotta turn my cheek to everything my enemies give
I got a lotta compassion for the sinners and the slaves
I've got an ancient message for those not in their graves
He will cover you with water, he will baptize your pain
If you let his power wash you clean he will soothe your burning brain
Heavenly father
Thou who all doth see
You let the rain fall on the good and the bad
So let the rain fall down on me
I didn't know you were my father
I thought you were the hanging judge
And when I came into your courtroom
I thought you'd hold a grudge
I thought I was a lowly servant
I didn't know I was a son
And I didn't know you had forgiveness
For everything I might have done
This world is crumbling, your kingdom is at hand
Give me the strength to live a little longer, help me to stand
There's gonna be a collision, this world is a-going fast
The mortgaged future meets a bankrupt past
Change is coming but people are sleeping in their bed
Storm clouds will bring the rain and the moon will turn blood red
Heavenly father
Thou who all doth see
You let the rain fall on the good and the bad
So let the rain fall on me
Dearest father
Help me thine to be
You let the rain fall on the quick and the dead
So let the rain fall down on me
Let it fall

sweet song of salvation
[Go to Song Page]
Uh huh ha yeah
Na na na na na-na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na yeah
Allright
Oh when you know a pretty story
You don't let it go unsaid
You tell it to your children
As you tuck them into bed
And if you know a wonderful secret
You tell it to your friends
Tell them that a lifetime filled with Jesus
Is like a street that never ends
Alright sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let your laughter fill the air
Sing that sweet (sweet) song of salvation
And tell the people everywhere
Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
To every man and every nation
Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let the people know that Jesus cares
Oh yeah
Na na na na na-na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na
You know what I'm talking about?
What I say, hey yeah [Spoken]
Now look around you as you sing it
There are people everywhere
And to those who stop to listen
Your sweet song becomes a prayer
If you know this wonderful secret
You tell it to your friends
Tell them that a lifetime filled with you know who
Is like a street that never ends
Alright sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let your laughter fill the air
Sing that sweet (sweet) sweet song of salvation
Tell the people everywhere
You've got to sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
To every man and every nation
Sing that sweet sweet song (of salvation)
That's right and let the people know that Jesus care
Look around you as you sing it
There are people everywhere
And to those who stop to listen
Your song might become their prayer
So if you know this wonderful secret
Then tell it to your friends
Tell them that a lifetime filled with Jesus
Is like a street that never ends
Hey hey alright
Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
And let your laughter fill the air
Sing that sweet (sweet) sweet song of salvation
Tell the people everywhere
Sing that sweet sweet song of salvation
To the king, the president, the United Nations
Sing that sweet, sweet song (of salvation)
Sing that song, let the people know that Jesus care
Oh yeah-right now
Come on you've got to sing that song
Sing it, sing it like you mean it
Everywhere you go, let 'em know
Up and down, all around the town
Woh yeah yeah yeah
Sing that sweet sweet song, that's right
And let the people know that Jesus cares
Wo-oh wo-ho-yeah yeah yeah yea-ah

goodbye, farewell
[Go to Song Page]
Goodbye, farewell
We'll meet again
Somewhere beyond the sky
I pray that you will walk with God
Goodbye my friends, goodbye
My heart beats to a slower drum
So softly in my veins
My fever's hot but in my sleep
I dream of heaven's rain
I feel no loss of hope as I've grown older
Only this world's weight upon my shoulder
Everything I am I’ve tried to show you
And in this life I’ve been so blessed to know you
Goodbye, farewell
We’ll meet again
Somewhere beyond the sky
I pray that you will live in God
Goodbye my friend, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, farewell
We'll meet again
Somewhere beyond the sky
I pray that you will walk with God
Goodbye my friends, goodbye
My heart beats to a slower drum
So softly in my veins

Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen, listen
Listen my friend, listen to me
I've got something I think you need
It can take away your troubles
It could help you feel so free
I know it can 'cos it happened to me
If you've suffered a broken heart, let it go
If a new life you want to start, let it go
If you feel down and if you are sad
If life gives you trouble then don't get mad
Lift up your head, look into the sky
Jehovah will help you if you let him try
If you ever hope to be free, let it go (let it go) ha ha
You must open your eyes to see, let it go (let it go)
Oh oh oh-oh-oh

This song is for all, all the people in Northern Ireland, in Bosnia, Herzegovina. Forty two other countries that are at war right now. You don't read about it in the news because it's not entertaining to think that so many are at war. It's more interesting just to watch the struggles of one or two people. But the truth is the world is at war. Just as in our hearts we are at war between good and evil. What shall we do, what shall we choose [Spoken] [The last three words are cut off on the "Green Mutant" mispress]

bombs
[Go to Song Page]
Acid rain falling from on high
While a mushroom cloud fills up the sky
I don’t want it all to end this way
What about the songs we haven’t sung
What about the things we haven’t done
What’s the matter with the world today
When the bombs fall, oh yeah
When they end it all, oh yeah
When the bombs fall
I'll still believe in you
You have made the world a place to live
You have filled the heart with love to give
People go on fighting anyway
Can't they hear the children in the street
Don't they see the homeless at their feet
Why do people turn their face away
When the bombs fall, oh yeah
When they end it all, oh yeah
When the bombs fall
I'll still believe in you
And through the tears and all the moonless nights
You are still here to help me see the light
No matter what may come
I'll still believe in you

the rock that doesn't roll
[Go to Song Page]
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah ye-eh
Alright, mmh
I was lost and blind then a friend of mine
Came and took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
Which was in another land
Now my life has changed, it's rearranged
And when I think of my past I feel so strange
Wowie zowie he saved my soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Yeah yeah yeah ye-eh
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah ye-eh
Ah yo-weh
I was all alone like a rolling stone
I was going nowhere fast
I was on the road so far from home
When the future touched my past
Now I feel so blessed 'cause he gave me rest
And I finally feel like I've passed the test
I wanna be like him, yes that's my goal
Like a rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Wo-aw yeah
Aw yeah
I was lost and blind then a friend of mine
Came and took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
Which was in another land
Now my mind is blown, my head has grown
A solid rock ain't a rolling stone
Wowie zowie that cat's got soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
Yeah he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for the body 'n' great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Yeah he's the rock that
He's the rock that
You know what I'm talking about, you know what I'm talking about
You gotta rock me on the water
Rock me from my grave
You gotta rock me till I'm feeling good
You gotta rock me till I'm saved, that's right
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
I wanna tell you
He's the rock that doesn't roll, keep on rocking
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for my body, he's great for my soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll yeah
He's coming back
Are you ready
Got to get ready
Got to be ready
Oh yeah
Waaaah
Yea-eh-ah
Yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah ye-eh
Alright, mmh
I was lost and blind then a friend of mine
Came and took me by the hand
And he led me to his kingdom
Which was in another land
Now my life has changed, it's rearranged
And when I think of my past I feel so strange
Wowie zowie he saved my soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Well he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Yeah yeah yeah ye-eh
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah ye-eh
Ah yo-weh
I was all alone like a rolling stone
I was going nowhere fast
I was on the road so far from home
When the future touched my past
Now I feel so blessed 'cause he gave me rest
And I finally feel like I've passed the test
I wanna be like him, yes that's my goal
Like a rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for the body and great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Wo-aw yeah
Aw yeah
I was lost and blind then a friend of mine
Came and took me by the hand

Which was in another land

A solid rock ain't a rolling stone

Yeah he's the rock that doesn't roll
He's good for the body 'n' great for the soul
He's the rock that doesn't roll
Yeah he's the rock that
He's the rock that
You know what I'm talking about, you know what I'm talking about
You gotta rock me on the water
Rock me from my grave
You gotta rock me till I'm feeling good
You gotta rock me till I'm saved, that's right

[Go to Song Page]
Separated, I cut myself clean
From a past that comes back in my darkest of dreams
Been apprehended by a spiritual force
And a grace that's replaced all the me I've divorced
I saw a man with tat on his big fat belly
It wiggled around like marmalade jelly
It took me a while to catch what it said
'Cause I had to match the rhythm
Of his belly with my head
Jesus saves is what it raved in a typical tattoo green
He stood on the box in the middle of the city
And claimed he'd had a dream
What will people think
When they hear that I'm a Jesus freak
What will people do when they find that it's true
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak
There ain't no disguising the truth
No I ain't into hiding the truth
No there ain't no disguising the truth
Kamikaze, my death is gain
I've been marked by my maker
A peculiar display
The high and lofty, they see me as weak
'Cause I won't live and die for the power they seek
There was a man from the desert with naps in his head
The sand that he walked was also his bed
The words that he spoke made the people assume
There wasn't too much left in the upper room
With skins on his back and hair on his face
They thought he was strange by the locusts he ate
The Pharisees tripped when they heard him speak
Until the king took the head of this Jesus freak
What will people think
When they hear that I'm a Jesus freak
What will people do when they find that it's true
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak
There ain't no disguising the truth
No I ain't into hiding the truth
I ain't into hiding the truth
I ain't into hiding the truth
People say I'm strange, does that make me a stranger
That my best friend was born in a manger [x2]
No
People think you're strange, does that make you a stranger
If your best friend was born in a manger
No
I said people think you're strange, does that make you a stranger
If your best friend was born in a manger
(No) [Crowd]
What will people think
What will people
Yeah
I don't really care
There ain't no disguising the truth
Oh yeah, what will people, who cares
I'm a Jesus freak
What will people do yeah, the truth
I don't really care if they label us Jesus freaks

The initial Solid Rock pressing (of 300) is a mispress, which Larry dubbed the 'green mutant' version. A printer error resulted in incorrectly coloured disc art. It also had a two second gap between the songs. The corrected issue (and the Spark release) were also edited in that the track Bombs [If The Bombs Fall] is about thirty seconds shorter through the removal of some guitar feedback noise. Further, the spoken "thank you" at the end of Sweet Sweet Song Of Salvation and some spoken words at the end of Let It Go are missing on the mispress
