lyrics versions 1 and 10
My life is filled with songs
But I just couldn't get along without my friends
And I'm happy now but when this good life ends
I know a better one begins
And love to you sir Stonehill
Armed with your axe full gallop on your amp
Ah, you're so Randy and you show it
And I love you as we both crawl t'ward the lamp
Fred Bova on guitar
With Hilly on the drums
Glenn Selwitz on the Hofner bass
With blisters on his thumbs
Dear Roger watch the dollar hide (Ooh ooh)
And disappear while love inside keeps growing (Ooh ooh)
You're older but less colder (Ooh ooh)
Than the jokes and folks you spent your childhood snowing (Ooh ooh)
And Jesus died for all you friends (Ooh ooh)
But even better yet he lives again (Ooh ooh)
And if words do not appeal to you (Ooh ooh)
I hope his spirit slips on through, he loves you (Ooh)
He loves you
He loves you
And if words do not appeal to you
I hope his spirit slips on through, he loves you

But I just could not get along without my friends
And I'm happy now but when this good life ends
I know a better life begins

Ah you're so crazy but you know it
And I love you as we both crawl toward the lamp

Dear Bobby watch your fears all hide
And disappear while love inside starts growing
Ah let it keep growing
You're older but less colder

And someone died for all you friends
But even better yet he lives again
And if this song does not make sense to you
I hope his spirit slips on through
He loves you
He loves you, he loves you
And if these words do not appeal to you
I hope his spirit slips on through

I sang with Randy Stonehill couple days ago. And he had wanted to be here and sing tonight with me. But he had to go so I thought I would sing this song, I thought of this last night, I'd like to sing a song I wrote about him and some other people back in the sixties that I had met that I really wanted to become christians. It's kind of a prayer list and eh, lot of it has already been fulfilled and I'm still praying for the rest [Spoken]

"Larry pauses in the middle of this spirit of encouragement and sings a prayer he wrote earlier for his fallen friend, Sir Stonehill, and for other musicians he had met or cared about during his early career in the Sixties. His prayers for Clapton, Watts, McCartney, and Bob Dylan go on also to encompass all of their friends for whom "Someone" died, and better yet, lives again. Then Larry sings on; that if the song does not make sense to these for whom he is praying, then he hopes that His Spirit" will slip on through and confirm to them that Jesus loves them. Two of these men have responded to Jesus and Larry continues to pray for the others, and their friends and loved ones."
