Trouble Is A Lonesome Town
This is a cover of a song from Lee Hazlewood's album of the same title. Larry's brother Charles started recording a cover of the whole album around 2004, under the monicker Thriftstore Masterpiece. Larry recorded vocals for three of the tracks. The Thriftstore Masterpiece album was released in 2013, but this track was not available on any Larry Norman release until 2018
Version 1 is a full studio recording
Note that the narrated introduction on this track and throughout the Thriftstore Masterpiece album was read by "Jerry the mailman", who was Larry and Charles' actual mailman for many years |
lyrics version 1
Trouble is little and it's lonesome. You won't find it on any map. But you can take three steps in any direction and you're there. It's a place to be born. And it's a place to live. And it's a place to die and be forgotten. It's a town called Trouble. And Trouble is a lonesome town [Spoken]
Lord I'd like to leave this town
Lord I'd like to leave this town, this town
But I guess I'll hang around
Yes I guess I'll hang around
Trouble is a lonesome town
Trouble is a lonesome town, this town
Trouble is where I was born
Trouble is where I am from
Trouble is a lonesome town
Trouble is where I was born, oh Lord
Trouble is where I am from
Trouble is where I belong
Trouble is where I belong
Oh Lord, trouble
Lord I'd like to leave this town
Lord I'd like to leave this town, this town
But I guess I'll hang around
Yes I guess I'll hang around
Trouble is a lonesome town
Trouble is a lonesome town, this town
Trouble is where I was born
Trouble is where I am from
Trouble is a lonesome town
Trouble is where I was born, oh Lord
Trouble is where I am from
Trouble is where I belong
Trouble is where I belong
Oh Lord, trouble
