lyrics version 1
Eeh
[Sound of telephone dialling]
Happy days are here again
The skies above are blue again
Let us sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again
Let's laugh and be happy
Ah ha ha ha ha
Ah ha ha ha ha
See I'm glad you called
Learn to enjoy whatever you do
And you will be happy, healthy and prosper
Thanks for calling
Yes it's me again, Ben
[Sound of telephone dialling]
Happy days are here again
The skies above are blue again
Let us sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again
Let's laugh and be happy
Ah ha ha ha ha
Ah ha ha ha ha
See I'm glad you called
Learn to enjoy whatever you do
And you will be happy, healthy and prosper
Thanks for calling
Yes it's me again, Ben
"When I first moved to Hollywood, it wasn't too long before I figured out that this was a pretty strange place to live. A new freind I had made told me to call this telephone number. I did, and this is what I heard. I laughed. After listening to it several more times, I dialled it again and recorded the message.
This telephone call to Ben's answering machine was the first track I spliced onto my tape. The backwards music is from something Gene and I had recorded in Oakland, at the studios in the black section of town. I don't remember what song it was. We might have been singing "Lord have mercy." I have no idea who Ben was."
