Surfing On Stone Waves
This song was written in 1964, but remained unreleased until its inclusion on the limited 2018 CD Archive, which accompanied Solid Rock pre-orders of Gregory Thornbury's biography of Larry.
Version 1 is a live recording, performed solo with acoustic guitar. This is from a 1964 Campbell High School Hootenanny, which was taped and is the earliest known recording of Larry in a live setting

lyrics version 1
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Don’t be a ??? try the greatest sport around
Bump your rump, bump your rump
Get a two by four and go skatin’ on the ground
Sidewalk surfing is a sport that’s been authenticated
By the latest committee from Sports Illustrated
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Go get some plywood and a pair of roller skates
Bump your rump, bump your rump
Now nail ‘em all together and be sure you get ‘em all straight
You make your dad move the Chevrolet
And then you cruise up and down in your own right way
And then you hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Watch out for ??? and watch out for telephone poles
Bump your rump, bump your rump
Now watch where you’re going or you might get knocked out cold
I knew a guy on the west side of town who [Voice cracks]
I’m not a soprano tonight [Spoken]
I knew a guy on the west side of town who ran into a building and he knocked it down
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Get your board and throw a tantrum in the street
Bump your rump
Now all your neighbours will think it’s just the heat
You can do the tricks the surfers do
Just try a Australian head dip and then hang to
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Hit a rock and you’ll be sitting on top of the kerb
Bump your rump now, bump your rump
Thank you [Spoken]
Don’t be a ??? try the greatest sport around
Bump your rump, bump your rump
Get a two by four and go skatin’ on the ground
