lyrics version 1
Here comes the ice cream man
Wonder if I got a dime
Every day he comes this way about this time
Yes I can hear his bells
Advertising what he sells
Crystal flavors on a stick just take my pick
But on a hot day I just lay around waiting (Ah ah ah)
Listening till I hear the sound his truck makes (Ah ah ah)
What a lucky break (Ooh ooh)
I just got the shakes that he's here already now I'm steady
I like to take my time
Doing things that please my mind
People always on the rush get out of touch
And on a hot day I just lay around waiting (Ah ah ah)
Listening till I hear the sound his truck makes (Ah ah ah)
Rushing in the street (Ooh ooh)
Following my feet my mouth is dry I'm half alive
I like to take my time
Doing things that please my mind
People always on the rush get out of touch
Here comes the ice cream man
Wonder if I got a dime
Every day he comes this way about this time
Hmm but on a hot day I just lay around waiting (Ah ah ah)
Listening till I hear the sound his truck makes (Ah ah ah)
What a lucky break
Ooh ooh
Wonder if I got a dime

Solid Rock auctioned this acetate in June 2014: Charles Norman described it thus:
"Here Comes the Ice Cream Man". The date on this record, July 18, 1967, makes this the earliest professionally recorded example of Larry Norman on record. Also, it's on a record. It's a demo for his band People!.
It's very cool. It has a full band on it. Guitar, bass, drums, keys. Larry sings the entire song. It sounds very 1960s. Kinda like The Monkees. It's rad. You should totally buy this :-)
You won't be disappointed.
We think it's worth AT LEAST $349.96.
When you hear it, you'll agree.
