Just a kind reminder that I believe you were going to add me to the thanks section of this grand and ever-so expanding wealth of Larry Norman and Larry Norman-related materials.

Pardon my rambling...but...
Thinking of Rehearsal For The Elsinore, and more so, rehearsal albums in general, those albums, in particular like Breathe In Breathe Out, are really not my favorite kind of albums. If Breathe In, Breathe Out is indicative, they mix (if they even do that) Larry's vocals way too low, to where it's just kinda weird. Also it really doesn't seem to lend itself toward a front to back listening experience, with the repeating songs. In that way it kinda reminds me of Dylan's Bootleg series where for at least Vol. 16 (Christian Era) they have a couple of repeat songs, which I also dislike for the same reason. Obviously it's a rehearsal so they may want to run through songs multiple times but again, it doesn't really lend itself well as necessary release (though a majority aren't exactly necessary).

I do have to admit there are a few good songs or at least songs that are interesting in concept, (lowly BandCamp copy without covers) like Jesus Freak (I recently got a DC Talk with Jesus Freak so I'm actually very interested as to how Larry's vocals fit with the song) and Like A Rolling Stone, which a phrase of it was used in the Dylan Biopic "A Complete Unknown", according to this website Larry doesn't seem to even say it, which I find kinda funny. Also songs like "Why Don't You..." with the guitar solo definitely have their moments.

Just in my opinion, Breathe In, Breathe Out (and possibly rehearsal albums in general, maybe you'd have more insight about that) seem to me to be a better archive than an actual release. It feels like something that should have probably happened before, but a compilation of standout tracks from various other rehearsal albums (don't know exactly how many there are) might be something that'd be interesting.

LarryNormanness - Your credit will be added during this next update cycle, when I make the lyrical corrections / additions you advised. ;-)

As for the rehearsal albums, all I can say is that they are what they are and to each his own. Some like them, some hate them, some can take or leave them and some love them, as is the case for every album ever released. On BIBO, if Larry's voice is low in the mix - can't say I've ever noticed that - then it's probably because it was a rehearsal for the musicians and not so much for Larry himself. I'd imagine he deliberately set his vocals lower, kind of like how guide vocals work.

As an aside, Charles regards Larry's vocals as being too low in the mix on Stranded On Babylon, which is not a complaint or observation I've heard from anyone else, ever!

Yeah, I think mixed low and quiet in comparison to other elements are kinda the same thing? But yeah, a little more quiet than I'd like, but it's not like they were always expecting to put out the rehearsal...right?

Listening to Step Into The Madness, I feel like his vocals sit really well in between everything. I guess people like Charles must have some sort of super hearing. I'm sure it didn't help that (if i recall correctly) they originally had to mix the album on a busted console or something.

I’ve gotten way too comfortable inserting my thoughts here…

I was just thinking about Larry’s quote about bumper stickers, problem is, I can’t find it. I think it’s something like “there’s nothing worth saying that can fit on a bumper sticker”. All I know is that it was in a song.

My first instinct was to search this website, but using the mobile website means I can’t search at all. Even odder is that requesting the desktop (which has the search bar I’m used to) doesn’t show up at all. Then I went to the SRA (by the way the search of that has been bugged for a few months now. To search and have anything come up you have to put asterisks on either side) only to find a post that references it but doesn’t outright say it.

Then as I was writing the second “paragraph” I remembered it was God Part 2, but I assume I can get to via Part 3 so I instantly go to Stranded In Babylon then click on the God Part 3, hoping that it would also include God Part 2, because they are similar. It wasn’t though it mentions it (I think the God Part 3 page should link to Part 2 page, but doesn’t despite mentioning it). So then I went to the songs page and finally found it, “But I do believe there's really nothing worth knowing that can be printed on something the size of a bumper sticker”.

The lesson, the takeaway? Either please see if you can get the search bar working on mobile browser, or I need to get use to using the song page. But of course, that doesn’t help when you’re in the early stages of chronic to severe forgetfulness and don’t remember where it’s from.

One possible thing to add if possible to make the songs page more accessible (for me at least) is add a vertical bar of sorts denoted with A-Z where you can click on any letter to instantly be transported to the corresponding letter. It’s really hard to explain but by searching up “iphone apple music library ui” and look at photos, and you may be able to get a glimpse at what I’m trying to convey. Of course this is all assuming you’re able to add stuff like this.

Just a small “rant” and suggestion. The most implementable suggestion being to link God part 2 from God part 3, funny because God Part 3 is linked in God Part 2.

Small observation…
As of writing this I’m listening to Tom Frankzak’s song “Without Love” (1985) of which the chorus feels pretty reminiscent to me.

Hi LarryNormaness,

The missing search function seems to be down to screen size and orientation. On an 11" iPad for example it is present, but only with the screen in landscape mode. On my Android cellphone though it is not present at all. Now whether that is a set restriction or not I have no idea. The website is built on Weebly, so it might just be a "Weebly thing".

Or it might be that the "theme" the site uses is an obsolete one that isn't fully mobile friendly. I could switch to a current theme that is listed as fully mobile compliant, but I'm honestly scared to try that..... The site uses some custom coding I added to achieve additional functionality, plus it contains hundreds of pages and images, so I'm very nervous of things getting broken or lost. Anyway, maybe I can contact Weebly and see if something can be sorted there.

Regarding God Parts 2 and 3 - the reason for 2 linking to 3 and not vice versa is simply because the God Part 3 page was created years before the Part 2 one, so there was nothing to link to. Evidently, when I eventually created the latter page, I linked Part 3 but didn't think of doing so in the other direction. I'll fix that in this update cycle.

I've always wished that the songs page could have a clickable A to Z bar actually, but I don't think that's possible with standard Weebly functionality I'm afraid. Probably the closest I could get to it would be to hide all the song titles inside accordions, like how the album pages work.... That'd make songs quicker to find (those further down the alphabet at least) but at the expense of an extra click to get to them. I can set that up easily as a test.
